All,

I have just had a bad experience with DIRECT LINE so please check your policies, expecially the amount of excess you pay in the event of a ding. My XJ8 bumper got damaged and the resulting £400 excess stung a wee bit. They add voluntary and compulsory excesses together, that was a new concept for me. Also, the "guaranteed hire car" lasts two weeks, more fine print. The chosen repairer / DIRECT LINE took almost two weeks to agree the damage!

DIRECT LINE ARE NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

I always assumed that all insurance companies added voluntary and compulsary excess together.

Timescales sound a bit crap though, agreed.

Not my last company, they got taken over and prices went sky high
