Quick check list needed re 01 XJ8

One of my mates has been offered a 4ltr XJ8 on an 01 plate for stupid (low stupid) money. He's a bit of a wheeler dealer and has mates in all sorts of trades - this car apparently is part of a bigger deal and is surplus to requirements. (He's a big lad now and can worry about provenance, HPI etc himself)

On an XJ8 of that age (I'm assuming high mileage) what are the things to watch out for? It's post-nikasil, is it also post tensioner problems?

The April and May editions of Jaguar World are good at explaining the pitfalls of XJ8 ownership. If he goes into it aware of what they say, and does the precautionary maintenance, then he should be OK.
