How much does it cost to respray a Jag/Daimler Series 3
Discussion
Hi Guys,
How much can I expect to pay for a respray on my 1990 Daimler Double Six ? I love it very mch and want to get it back on the road this summer.
Please see my profile for the car. No major rust or dents on it. Lacquer is flaking and small bits of rust at the bottom of doors and round the rear window.
Ta !

You might have hard work getting a fixed price to paint any car of that age as any good bodyshop will be a bit concerned about what they find and theres no point in painting the body if theres rust waiting to come through. I'm hoping to get my M3 painted in the winter. I'll strip everything off it myself to bring the cost down. I'm looking at some were around £1200 for a complete respray with a couple of rusty bits being sorted and thats off one of my oldest friends so will be a good price. If your looking for a complete respray then i would buget for £2-3K.
I think your car is exactly the same as mine but it's hard to see the colour properly, i assume it is BRG?..or maybe it's blue, I am just too used to them being green!
Mine was taken back to metal and resprayed a few years ago and had lots of metal around the front and rear screens refrabricated due to rust. I had the valances and wings replaced. I paid approx 2.5k

Thanks Guys.
I didn't realise 1990 was considered old, guess I'm used to looking at older cars. (my first car was a 1975 Toyota Celica GT Mk1) - I was 2 weeks old when that car was registered.
Nonetheless, I will have to take into account the wee bits of rust that need fixed on the Daimler. Don't have a garage yet and I generally do zero work on my cars myself. I'd rather pay and make sure it was getting done right.
Hedders - my car is a dark metallic blue, magnolia hide with blue piping and blue carpets etc. It's been off the road since Feb. Dying to get it re-sprayed, serviced/MOT'd and back out there. 7 miles to the gallon, can't wait !!!

7 mpg? I hope that is a typo!
I crashed mine in jan 05 and was just about to buy a house. It has been off the road since then, I am getting back in about two weeks all perfect again
Like you, I don't do work on her myself, so everything costs

7mpg wasn't a typo - that's what the computer says (urban driving)
I am absolutely dying to start getting my car done, looking at getting it back in August, giving it June/July to get the work done on it.
let me know how you get one when you get yours back Hedders - what was the damage ?

7mpg doesn't seem right! I get about 12 around town, 17 on a run.
The damage was not too bad, but i had no agreed valuation with the insurance so they wanted to write it off for the sake of about £600 in repairs
She needed a bumper / wing, some repairs to the bonnet and some new paint. Because i was hard on the brakes, my bumper went under the bumper off the car in front. I wrote off the rear end of a new honda and pushed it into a mercedes
I reckon if i had released the brakes and let the front end come up i would have suffered very little damage bumper to bumper But i would have shunted them like they was nothin'
