Anyone found any recent articles on the R version of the new XK due later this year? Had a brief look on the web and couldnt find anything really. Topgear reckoned that it is supposed to have 40% more power, what do you reckon this means in terms of 0-60? The current car is 5.9, which isnt exactly blistering, but having looked at it in the dealers this weekend, I am prepared to forgo extra pace as the car itsself is stunning, especially in the Black-Ivory combo, with 20" wheels.

5.9secs isnt exactly slow either! 0-60 should be sub 5secs but 0-60 doesnt mean that much anyways, in gear times are a better judge of how quick a car is.

I agree, but the XK brochure didnt give any ingear times, so I only have the 0-60 as a comparison.

0-60 might not mean a lot to you or I, but it's amazing the amount of people who walk in the showroom and ask. I'd like to see the new XKR break the psychological 5 second barrier really!

I was just wondering what the 40% extra power means. Does it just mean that instead of 300bhp, it will have 420? And if so, what this actually means to the driving in real life?

Also, any other figures or facts on the XKR hit the net yet, ie its cost, any extras etc?

Judging by the rave reviews on the new XK, the forthcoming XKR should be a real monster.
I'd guess it'll have 420bhp (current model is 400) though 450bhp would be nice
And of course, lets not forget, Jaguar are the only manufacturer to offer new models that are considerably lighter than their predecessors.

Should make a good few AMV8 owners feel a bit sick......

Just wish Jaguar would offer a manual box and perhaps a lighweight more harcore XKR, now that would be

My brochure tells me that the XK has 300 "SAE bhp", is that normal bhp or something different? (For comparison it also says it has 298 "EEC PS".)

420bhp is probably about the right guess, manual and 450bhp would be very interesting but politics within the PAG group would never allow it due to the afformentioned AMV8.

There would also be a fairly limited market for that sort of thing unfortunately.

There will hopefully be a 500BHP GT3 killer XKR, maybe not for a couple of years.(Let Jag know that you want it) The XKR at the end of the year will be 420BHP have quad tail pipes, chrome side vents, thats about it. Wait for the 2 year face lift..............oh the 0-60 time will be similar to the current XK8, but after that the 60-100 will be the party piece.

Also don't be surprised if you see the arrival of a AMVantage V12 which will alow Jag to up the horse power stakes......

Be surprised if Aston fitted the V12 into the AMV8, unless they up the ante with the DB9 alot when they revise that.

Lets hope jag gets its next new cars right so that its not losing so much money!

They already have, still in discussion whether it will be signed off or not.
