Hi there looking for advice, regularly when i start my car the tickover sits at 1000rpm then drop and cuts out. This happens till the engine is given a little rev and then it sits nicely at 1000rpm.

This seems to happen every time the engine is cold.

Any suggestions?

Sounds more like a sticking idle air control valve to me.

Err XK8 as it says

My XKR would occasionally cut out from cold if i gave it a bit too much gas ,, and i mean when driving from cold you really had to be carefull not to give it even the sligtest bit too much gas

I'm no techi so don't know if there is a connection with the fact that these cars tend to require new throttle bodies from time to time?

Usually I would agree with the idle speed control valve prognosis but the AJ V8 doesn't have an idle speed control valve and uses the actual electronic throttle along with active ignition to control idle speed.
Could the throttle have coked up a bit thus not allowing minimum air requirements for idle?

I just started my second week at Jaguar PACE.........cut me some slack.

We won't cover Engine Managment for sometime yet, Thanks Marquis_Rex, you're a good man.
