The wood in my 82 Daimler (see profile) is looking a bit tatty and the ski slope and wood around the gear knob is especially in need of a tidy up.

I am considering replacing it all with a black wood or polished black finish of some kind but keeping the rest of the car original.

What say you, jag fans? I think it would look great, but would it screw up the resale value?

I'd stick with keeping it original if possible. But that's me... You can get new ski slopes I think?

BTW car is gorgeous!

As the resale values are so low anyway, I wouldn't think your idea would knock it much. It may however make it more difficult to sell...

What colour leather have you got in there?

Probably worth looking at www.myrtleprod.com

They seem to be the experts in all wood trim matters.

(I'd stay traditional myself)

Cream leather, front carpets could do with replacing, but the leather is all good.

Around the console is vinyl though i think, I would like to swap that with some nice new leather at some point.

Ta for that but I already downloaded all thier images so i could get quotes on making pieces made out of alternative materials

I also have to confess I am considering changing the wheels to some kind of gun metal / anthracite 17" jobbies as i already have the car riding on gas shocks so the ride is already a bit firm I may as well throw some bigger wheels on too and keep the pepperpots perfect for when i sell it

I reckon it would look pretty racy, and it goes well for a big old thing...
