I was watching a Top Gear episode were they test the acceleration of the XJ220 vs the Zonda.
And the XJ220 got off the line faster, why?
The Zonda should have much better low end torque then the XJ220.
Is it weight?

Hopefully Jaguar will make a successor to the XJ220.

I wouldn't hold your breath. After all the problems they had with the XJ220, like they had to take their customers to court to make them buy the thing at the time, I wouldn't expect to much of a rush to do it again.

Ford also might have a few things to say about it as well, the PAG group might feel that super cars should come from Aston.

When Jag did the XJ220 they had had a string of successful racing cars to help sell the concept, that's not happening at the moment. It's Aston doing that job within the group currently.

To my mind the XJ220 pre cursor was the XKSS, which likewise offered previously unheard of levels of performance, 0->60 in 5.5s when most cars struggled to do 60 at all. The XKSS was lost as a project with the fire at Browns Lane, but apart from the aborted XJ13 there was gap of well over 30 years before Jaguar attempted to build another hyper car.

Hoping for a successor to the original E-type might be a better bet.

It sounded like Jaguar's own fault for the problems selling the XJ220,
they orignaly said the XJ220 would have a V12 and four wheel drive,
and then took deposits.
Then they decided againest the four wheel drive and switched the engine
to a V6.

Most of the people who put down deposits were hoping to be able to sell the cars at huge profits. Then the market collapsed. Huge profits weren't going to happen V12 or no V12.

Sure they should have worked out if they could make it based on the V12 before they anounced it.
