I believe Jaguar made about 280 XJ220s.
Does anyone know how many XJ220's that Jaguar still has in stock?
Or how many do they sell a year?

They do quite often come up for sale second hand.
I have even seen them on eBay!

I'm just curious about how many of the 280 are still unsold?

Gareth, read the add carefully. Would you buy a car like that from an establishment unable to count the number of cylinders?

V-8, how about a new model based on the XJ-220 design.
And with Jaguar's 4.2L V-8 with twin or quad turbos?

Well given that there is now only one 'authorised' repairer for XJ220's in the UK, and also given the type of vehicle, it's not going to be the cheapest thing on earth to run

If I had the money, I would get the XJ220, rip out the V6 and install the BMW V10,
then replace the rear body with something more like the XJR-15

The beemer V10 is going to be rather girlie after that V6, even in standard tune. There were quicker versions too that added to the already considerable performance.

If you fancy an XJR-15 (and who wouldn't) why not just buy one. I've seen a couple advertised in the classic car mags recently.

the BM V10 is an awesome engine... but would be too heavy in the jag. Have any of you actually driven a 200?? because they absolutely fly and believe me you dont need any more power!! but if you did, the race 220's were pretty much standard engines remapped to add about another 300 bhp.

What about the turbo lag?
Aren't the turbos in the XJ220 about 14 years old in design?

The engine was good for 450BHP before adding the turbos.

It's not just the weight, the chassis was shortened from the origenal protype since it only had to accomodate the little V6. You'd never get the V10 in.

If you wanted to add a BMW engine, you'd really want to try and fined one of the nice V12s they made for the car that unseated XJ220 as the fastest "production" road car. But you'd still have the size and weight problems to sort out.

Yes the whole car is now an old design. I expect there is conciderable turbo lag, I've never driven one, but I expect you don't want to get caught off boost. I seem to remember someone from Cossworth ones commenting that you needed a calender to measure the lag on the F1 turbos :-)

BTW, a quick google for XJR15 suggests they might be a little cheaper that XJ220s. They didn't have the top speed, but would out accelerate the standard 220 not sure whether they were officially street legal.

I heard that some XJR15s were converted for street use,
but the car has poor handling because the engine is mounted too high.
