Went to the launch last night at my local dealers, Grange in WGC. First time I've seen the car in the flesh.

I have to agree that the photographs don't do it justice. It looks FNATASTIC
Great road presence. The front is a good balance of elegance and aggression, from the rear three-quarter view it has beautifully sculpted 'hips'.

Not so convinced by the interior. I loved the information centre, one of the few vehicles to have an attractive interface/graphics. Too much plastic for my liking though. Also, the rear seat accommodation is very poor for such a big car. A triumph of golf clubs over children I assume.

Best of luck to anyone taking delivery, you are very lucky guys with great taste.

Can't wait to see the XKR !!!

Went to the launch event for the NE this afternoon. I don't really like it to be honest. The interior is small - theres no point in the rear seats IMO as they're not useful for anyone/anything except a 2 year old. Big boot, and the exterior looks very good, but the interior feels quite cheap. The wood effect dash on the stationary show car they had looked horrible, as if it had been stuck there as an after though. I also saw one with a silver dash which looked much nicer. The little ariel stub on the rear quarter looked to be a slightly different colour to the rest of the car body as well!

Sounded very nice though, looks the part expecially in darker colours. I love the wheels with all the little bolts round the outside. I'd post up pictures but I can't get them off my phone at the moment, sorry!

Just watched the Jag promo DVD, its terrible! You don;t get to hear the engine at all, just some weird sound track!

If you want to hear the car go onto www.jaguar.co.uk and click on XK. It takes you to a dedicated XK site which IMO is the best site on the web.A great interactive site.

I sat in my car last week before I came away and thought the interior was excellent. All leather dash ( it was plastic on the old XK ) and superb steering wheel - very tactile. Very modern but still very much Jaguar.

I agree on the practicality - the rear seats are useless but they are in the DB9 and the AMV8 hasn't got any at all. Doesn't make the cars any less desirable but there again I would say that!!

The only negative I have so far ( I haven't driven it yet ) is the bumper to bonnet shut line which is very pronounced. I understand that is due to the new bonnet pedestrian safety system.

Returned early from holiday so arranged to pick my new XK up today. The car is Quartz with Ivory - 20 inch wheels and looks fantastic. The whole experience from order to collection was fantastic ( thanks to Sturgess Jaguar) and the car has lived up to all my expectations. You always know when you are driving something special when within 5 minutes of leaving the dealership three cars pass you and the drivers/passengers are looking at your car and giving the thumbs up. You also know its a great car when you just get in to it for the first time and within minutes it all feels so natural - you are just so at one with the car. The interior is light and modern but still has that 'Jaguar' feel to it. I agree with some of the road tests that it feels a little slow off the mark but that just makes you play more with the paddle shift which is excellent. The suspension ( my car has CATS) is sublime - not at all crashy over poor road surfaces and yet very flat, with loads of traction when cornering.Truly amazing when compared to the old XK.

The downsides - its early days but so far so good. Wind noise from the passenger side mirror / window area is the only issue so far. No trim issues , no electrical gremlins ( and I have keyless entry which I thought would be a mare but is brilliant) , no mechanical issues. Once I have reset the passenger side window I may even cure the wind noise !!!

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the 'looks' of the XK compared to other cars .I am in the fortunate position to compare this new XK with Callums other creation the DB9. They are very different cars both to look at side by side and to drive. I love the DB9 - its just something so special and rewarding. The best compliment I can pay the new XK is how on earth do they build this thing for £60k - nearly half the price of a DB9 and £20k+ cheaper than the V8V. Its the best value Sports Car GT I have driven - the best Jaguar I have driven and I cant wait for the R and RR versions. Well done Jaguar.

I had the same thing with the demo car, Jag tried to sort it but it may be a product of the design. I thought the interior was very well put together.

Quite easily, the Aston is a premium brand and subsequently has a premium price tag. I expect the DB9 costs Ford the same amount to produce as a new XK, the difference is merely in what a person will spend to own that 'badge'. I would be grateful of you would take that ultimate pic of the two cars next to each other, so we can see how different the two cars look.

Enjoy.

Triple 7 - interesting to note your comments regarding the wind noise. I have every faith in my dealer that it will be sorted especially as it doesn't happen on the drivers side.

I was going to post pictures today but my digi cam is broken so will have to borrow one.

Had a slight mare tonight - went to show the car to a friend - he sat in it and I told him to start her up. Nothing happened. He got out - we locked the doors - he got back in - still nothing. I got in - started first time. Forgot that the key fob was in my pocket and it has to be in the car for it to start. I told him that it wouldn't start because it doesn't like owners of German cars !!!!

You know its a good car when you take the long way home. You know its a really good car when you get home and go out again to get petrol !!

Will post piccies asap .

Thats what I said to Jag, couldn't understand why the drivers side was silent and the passengere side was so noisey. Must be something to do with the airflow around the mirror. Weird huh?

look forward to pics.

Test drove the new XK for PH last Monday and also noticed quite a lot of wind noise around the screen area on the coupe, but don't recall it being all the time. There was certainly a lot of whistling from the draught screen on the convertible at times, but none at all at others. Presumably something to do with wind speed/direction.

I have just been offered a coupe at list. Going to see it in the morning. I did not really budget to change my car now but I have to consider this.

Don't pay it, get more of a discount. Someone I know cancelled his convertible order. Dealer then offered him the convertible at the same price as coupe - £5k discount, in the week they were launched. DOH!

Thats interesting because I know there are wait lists and premiums are being paid.

I agree - the wind noise is above 55 mph.

My wife drove it for 2 days - got home from a business trip and wont give me the key back !!

Off to fill her up again - the long way!
