XJ8 or XJR

I am thinking about specing my new car. Is it worth the extra for the XJR??

To ask if the XJR is worth the extra money - yes. I have a 4.2 XJ8 now which is fine. Just trying to justify the extra £3K purchase cost + extra insurance + fewer mpg's.

The XJ8 is hardly the last word in economy, so if that's a problem, walk away now. If you want an XJR, then there really is no reason not to. It may cost more to purchase but it will have better residuals and if you drive with a light foot it's not too much worse economy-wise than the XJ8... if you put your foot down however...

Really, the question is do you want amazing comfort or do you want pretty amazing comfort with amazing performance?

Don't overlook the Super V8. I love it as it has the XJR engine plus all the toys you could want (not that the XJR is short of them!)

But the super V8 is only available in long wheel base - I think?

I find the shorter wheel base long enough!
