S-Type R - Flutter / Surge @ Partial Throttle
Discussion
Some advice needed
I have noticed today that there is a small but detectable flutter at partial throttle (around 2000rpm) mainly felt in 5/6 gear. It fell like a surge then dip of 150 - 250rpm and continues if the throttle is kept at this level.
Is this a problem with the fuelling or gearbox mapping or something completely different?
Look forward to any advice you may have.

p.s. If it makes any difference the problem is less noticeable in sport mode.

Hi, 35,000 miles is low mileage for what I was thinking but this is a possibility.
The carbon track on the accelerator position sensor could be starting to wear which in the beginning would give the symptoms you've described. Is 2000 RPM where your jag spends allot of time on the motorway by chance?
It could be any number of things and I'm just taking my best guess with the symptom you've given.
Fret not, if I know P.H. someone will happen by and know right what the problem is.

Thanks for the diagnosis Trooper2.
It would be strange at a low milage but I have been advised the same by an engineer friend of mine (Powertrain, Visteon) that the 'Throttle Position Sensor' may be a cause.
Will ask a Jag Technician to have a look at this. I hope it's something simple!

p.s. Anybody else have a similar problem, think it may be a known issue on X-Types?
