New XK - TV advert
Discussion
Saw the new TV advertisment for the XK today. I just don't understand the direction Jaguar are going in these days.
It's narrated in what sounds like an American accent, it doesn't flow, just very bitty clips which seems agitating and seems more focussed on all the 'beautiful people' rather than the car.
No class, no elegance, no grace.
What do the rest of you think?

I suspect it is simply the American ad used without alteration, which has of course been taylored specifically for the American market. This explains why it fails over here (I think so anyway). In fact, it does more than fail, it is really naff and crass and embarassing.
Jaguar (Ford) please spend some money on a UK ad you cheapskates.

As jaguar owners we've always felt safe in the knowledge that BMW owners carried a 'taste' cross in the car world, but this new advert could really damage the jaguar image, everybody else in the car world now thinks we've become above our station (complete t***ers), it comes over as all decadence, this will be just before the uprising then, no more courtesey to Jaguar owners on the road.
I can't remember much about the ad but i do think that jaguar needs to up date its image a bit. I'm a huge jag fan and 27. I'm always looking at the possibility of buying a new car and at the moment would be one off very few of my friends who'd even consider the latest jaguars. I'd never sell my e-type and would love an XK150 or possibly a mark 2.
I feel that through the late 70's and early 80's jaguar image was ruined. I would like to see jaguar back to the status where people want them and i do feel that the product is now good but just doesn't have the mass appeal off other brands so sexy sales ads may help the brand in the long term.
I also think it was a mistake not to produce the 'F' type, look at what sells well and small, reasonably price, good looking sports cars are well up there if it handled well i'd put a deposit down.
