Still considering an S-type R 4.2.

The car I am looking at is just under 3 years old.

The dealer is offering 1 year extension to Jaguar warranty, and I have the option to extend that for another two years for £3000.

This is to extend the original "As New" warranty NOT to add a Jaguar Used Car Warranty.

Initially this sounds like a lot, but I guess if anything goes wrong £3000 could be eaten up really fast. The limit of the warranty is the ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE of the car, i.e. at touch shy of £56,000.

The big question is, is this a sensible option?

Thanks

Simon

Its insurance, so is a total waste of money unless you need it. £3k is alot of money, if you kept it to one side that will cover almost anything that may go wrong with the car aside a new engine or a new gearbox. Never heard of any problems on a 4.2 S-Type?

Also check the warranty they are offering again, as I've never heard of an extend manufactuers warranty being any different to a used warranty. Jaguar warranties now have a sub-clause in them saying that they no longer cover for 'known defects' which on a supercharged Jag like an XKR, include the timing chain tensioners, the rear diff. and gearboxes, which effectively render the warranty useless. Jaguar will try their utmost not to pay out.

Your call. I say risk it having kept the money to one side.
