Hi, my S Type 2.7 Oil Burner has developed a rather disconcearting habit when the ambient temperature on start up is below 0 deg.
The car starts and runs normaly, but after about 5 mins it belches out a cloud of vapourised fuel from the near side wheel arch, it has done this twice recently, but only when very very cold. Does anyone know how the preheat functions ?

Jaguar Customer affairs confirmed that this is from the preheat and only happens breifly if the car is stationary at a critical stage in the warm up, it has alarmed a number of customers. I can testify that the other morning whilst held up at roadworks, it alarmed not only me but the drivers of vehicles in close proximity and caused pedestrians to point and wave. Do you know how the system works?
