1998 XJ8 electricals
Discussion
I have some odd problemns with the electrics on my jag. A few months ago the windscreen wiper started moving randomly - jerking acorss the screen when switched off. The car occasionally gets stuck in park and won't move until I turn it off, lock/unlock and start again.
More recently the interior lights sometimes stay on when I lock it and yesterday the main lights and indicators stoppned working for about 2 minutes. The car is in with a specialist in Gerrards Cross, Bucks, but they are drawing a blank - no fault codes are showing.
Anyone have any ideas - thanks

James, some of those faults tend to suggest a locking/alarm fault (i.e. you can't move it from park if "locked" or the "alarm is activated" )These would be normal responses for that.
The lights also seem to be related to this.
Without looking at the Jag disc (not sure if it would help anyway) and looking for a common thread amongst all those things, I'd first suggest that a poor earth somewhere may be at fault (maybe around the locking/alarm circuits). I do know that fuses are distributed all over the car. Under the seats, in the boot etc.
I'll check the drawings this weekend and see if I can make any sense of it. I'm not an auto electrician BTW, but I do deal with industrial control systems.. fingers crossed
