Hi all

Looking to buy an XK8 (probably 1998 / 1999) very soon. With the arrival of our 1st baby next Feb will need to put a rearward facing babychair in the front passenger seat so...

can you / how do you, turn off the passenger airbag??

Thanks

The answer Indi, as Norman says, is NO
Just confirmed it in the Safety Advice leaflet in the Drivers Handbook.

...so "let it go Indi...let it go.."

Indi,

Don't let that put you off owning a superb vehicle...

...just turn the little mite around.

Forward facing is acceptable in both front and rear.

When we looked at putting a child seat in the back of an XK8 convertable, it just wouldn't go. Even if the front seat was touching the windscreen. Not until the little one can move upto something like a Ricaro Start.

I gave up. Couldn't find anything comparable which would take the kids seats either, It would go in the back on an SL, but not with anyone in the front seat, or if you wanted to see the near side mirror.

Looked at it again recently now that they don't need child seats, just boosters in normal car seats, and didn't think I could drive the car with two kids in the back, one is fine but I couldn't drive sensibly with either little one behind, and the youngest is only 4.

I ended up buying an XK150 instead.

I didn't try a coupe, this was the convertable.

Quite a bit more room in a coupe, rather than a convertible! My youngest is 11 and I would say she is only just getting too big for the back seat.

Only way is to take you baby-seat to the Stealers and try it out. Best of luck.
