A few questions on the new XK:

- Has anybody specced one up yet, if so what sort of price do you get to?
- When are the first deliveries?
- How long are the waiting lists?
- Does anybody know how the back seats compare to the old XK and the 997?

Thinking about 997S, M5 or new XK. I would welcome anybodies thoughts.

- Has anybody specced one up yet, if so what sort of price do you get to? XK8 Coupe £58k, XK8 Conv £68kish, XKR not till 2007
- When are the first deliveries? In time for new Reg in March, but my dealer recons early late spring/ early summer
- How long are the waiting lists? Not AMV8 long thats for sure, order one now and you should get it within a few weeks of launch
- Does anybody know how the back seats compare to the old XK and the 997? A smidge bigger, but don't get that excited!

What do you want it to do? I would get a 997S over a regular XK8, an XKR is a different story. M5 do you need the seats? If so it fits the bill. Merc, no way!

Thanks for your quick response.

I assume 58k is for basic coupe, any idea how much is a typical specced car? How much are the big 20" alloys?

As you might have guessed from my user name, I will soon be a V8 Vantage owner but I don't want to drive it everyday. I like the the XK styling (interior and exterior) and I also like V8s, I like the 997 performance and I am usually a BMW driver and love the performance and practicality of the M5. All very different cars, any of them would be fine for me, so a very difficult decision.

I specced my XK two weeks ago. going to see it at the factory on 14th December but it will not be released to me until 1st March. Dealer will get my car at end of January.

Specced Quartz with Ivory/Ebony interior, keyless entry, parking sensors,20 inch alloys,Hi Fi upgrade , Heated Screen ( I think!) - came to around £65k. the early cars are £59,995 because there is a must have option CATS on first build cars - its £995 normal. The standard spec is very good includes Sat Nav,6 CD,Keyless Go,Bluetooth.

I also have a DB9 so in common with you was looking for an everyday car. Had a BMW 645Ci - great engine but mighty boring to drive. Prior to that had the XKR - great car but just a tad too soft.

Whatever you decide - enjoy it and hope your Aston turns up soon !

Crikey bit pricey compared to current model! You guys are Ford Crazy, who is going to have a full house with a new Aston, new Jag XK and new Rangie Sport?!!

AMV8Vantage, you have a fab time ahead deciding on your purchase and the arrival of the AMV8. I see from your profile that I am at the wrong end of the Airline industry!! I do have a great view from the 'office' mind you.

Hi Gazzer.
Sold the DB9 a while ago, currently have a 997 S Cab. The RR Sport is wife's.
I don't tend to have more than one car at once just get bored quick.

tripple7, I am very jealous of the view from your office, however I can't complain as the airline industry has treated me well!

I visited a couple of Jag dealerships today to enquire about the XK8, one dealer said I would have to wait at least a year from first delivery before I could expect delivery, the other said I would have to wait 18 to 24 months. Does anybody know any garages in the south east with reasonable waiting lists?

SOLD! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Did you speculate, drive it for a bit and sell it? I do like the 997S, but can't get a suitcase in.

So all in all is the RRS living up to expectations?

Got the DB9 in Feb, drove it for 3 months and sold it back to the dealer for exactly what i paid for it. The 997S is fantastic, dare I say i prefer it to drive than the DB9, am on my second one,the first was a coupe, current one is a cab which i'm trying to sell at mo - any takers?. We love the RR Sport, just had Turbochip(Chris) out to do his magic and the car is now transformed.

tripple 7, that looks like a nice spec. I would have black exterior with 20" alloys, ivory and charcoal interior with poplar wood trim.

I aint mad about wood trim myself , much prefer carbon or aluminium finish as per triple7 pics , cabriolet looks better than the previous XK (roofs tucks away neatly) as opposed to the Millets tent effect on the previous XK.

997 C4S Coupe due in 11/11/05.
AMV8 due same time as Jag XK8 Cab. What a dilema!
Thanks for photohosting advice.

18 month wait list for the new XK ??? I would love to believe it but that is AMV8 type waiting times and they are only producing arouns 20% of Jag XK projected volumes.

Are the speculators on board?

I agree, 18 months is ridiculous, there must be some dealers somewhere with shorter waiting lists though. If I can find a dealer that can get me a car for next summer I will be putting my name down.
