Well, maybe. According to Car magazine this month it'll be based on the 2007 model year X-Type (and that's going to be RWD - HURRAY!!).
There's also talk of an X-Type coupe (again, based on the '07 model) and a coupe based on the next S-Type. I really hope that baby looks like the R-Coupe concept.
Ian Callum's first production Jag will be the new XK, due in '04....can't wait.

I don't think Car magazine has a website. There is an artist's impression in the mag though....looks like the original concept (front engine, rear wheel drive).
Hopefully, the long lead time will mean Jaguar will have time to develop this into a serious machine.
The article also states that the X-Type estate (due sometime soon) won't be replaced when the new (RWD) X-type arrives. Pity they didn't say the same about diesels....

Sounds rather moist.
Domster very kindly leant me a car mag from last year recently in which, quite coincidentally, there was a review of the then prototypal XKR-R which looked completely honed as a production proposition and was pitted against the might of Stuttgart's rather splendid GT3.
The Jag, er, won! No mean feat, by any standards.
Coventry can do proper dynamics but they seem to prefer tantilisation rather than actual sales to demonstrate this ability to maximum effect (all respects duly given to current R users which are crushingly competent gents' expresses, all the same).

.
I recall that test , yes oh yes the XK-RR that was a beauty , and to beat the GT3 quite impressive stuff , but why don`t they ever build them , that XK-RR looked ready to roll

This is the question, Marki; Jag seem to get a hard on by everyone talking about their 'SVO' unit but saying 'NO!' every time someone like Tuff Noodles implores them to to the biz.
Wierd! Nust have something to do with marketing; all the worst decisions in the world have always been the fault of marketing departments.
