Went up to see these pair of XK RS Jaguars today at Sytner Northampton . Neither Car was perfect by any means and the MOT records likewise . I don't know the story how Sytner came by these cars but neither of them had an MOT for the year 2018 which makes me think they have both come from the same source presumably JLR . Anyone any thoughts ?
It was my first time back in Sytner Northampton since 2019 when I bought the F Type SVR so I was anxious to see what a Jaguar Dealership looked like in terms of stock . The answer was surprisingly little with these two XK RS and a solitary XF Sportsbrake .
Pretty depressing and nobody even approached despite me lifting bonnets etc and thoroughly checking both cars for about 30 minutes .

I'd be interested in what you thought of these two condition wise. An early 'select' F Type R I enquired about in the past certainly wasn't prepared as one would have hoped, to the extent they put a pair of budget rear tyres on the beast.

I looked at the white ones MOT history, which has now sold after having been reduced c.£10k. It appeared to have been getting through tyres every couple of thousand miles at one stage, which made me suspicious it might have been a track car.

Most of the 'S' models for sale have been on the market a long time. I think it might only be the sellers that consider these to be collectable and thus worth double a standard XKR.

Have you also considerd the XK Dynamic R? There is a white one on the market that appears to have gone 3 years and 25k miles without a service. Given the Dynamic was a run out model that I understand was discounted c.£10k over the cooking version, I struggle to see how this 71k miles example with partial service history is worth more than a much lower miles full history standard XKR.

Over the years my experiences with the Sytner Group at both Jaguar and Porsche dealerships haven't been great . Aloof , Cynical and downright dishonest at Porsche and like yourself vehicle preparation and provenance worries at Jaguar . When I Part Exchanged the SVR for a 911 at Porsche Silverstone , when the SVR was being inspected I pointed out it had come from their sister Dealership just up the road in Northampton . "Thats what we are worried about" was the reply .
People can be easily conned by this "Direct from Jaguar" label used by the various Dealerships selling One Owner nearly new stock .
They may be One Owner , but by inevitably being subject to a Leasing Agreement could have had numerous drivers .
Vehicle Preparation on the other hand is also a lottery . Marshall Jaguar Cambridge simply had a couple of East Europeans with a Buff and some T Cut in a shed around the back . I personally watched them rattle can clear coat onto a F Type V8 R .
As regards the XK RS I viewed at Sytner Northampton , the Black Car had the cream leather and the White Car the black leather .
The White Car was in better condition paint wise but looked to my eyes at least , pretty anonymous in that colour scheme . The Black Car which I much preferred aesthetically was full of scratches and swirls . I cant understand anyone attempting to sell such a car and not making sure it was presented at its best to any prospective Buyer . In this age of Leasing , I suppose the Private Buyer now becomes a bit of an irrelevant distraction .
I think the XK RS is a wonderful machine . A bit heavy for a proper Sports Car certainly but a great footnote in Jaguars history and a very rare sight on the road . The other Models you mention are all great cars . I just take the view that sat in a field with other car enthusiasts at one of our gatherings in the Summer , the XK RS makes a great talking point and who doesn't enjoy that ?

I saw these two advertised ages ago when I was looking for F Types, I suspect they are ex Jaguar cars used for a variety of reasons.

If I was you Red I’d get yourself back in an SVR, they are just phenomenal machines, I drove everything this side of 100k and nothing compares, every drive is an event. If you can find a good, low mileage, one owner car (like mine) they are only heading one way IMO.
