SBC swapped E types were common in the 70's when the XKE was not worth much but you don't see that many now. There are still plenty of SBC swapped XJ saloons and coupes. I had a chevy swapped XJ5.3C for a while and it was a great car. Much easier to work on when compared to the V12 and the extra gear in the 700R4 was nice. Because the chevy engine is lighter and sits further back, it makes for a more balanced car.

It's a great combo; I had a Griffith 500 like it for many years smile

ETA Thinking about it, they did the same with that E-Type that we did with the P-51, only the other way round...
