Really! I just called my dealer and they havent been told a price yet. He did say that they have been told very broadly that Coupe is 60k and Conv is 65k, but not definite specable prices. Which dealer you at?

Yes, thanks.

I cant believe they have pitched the basic price above that of a 911, however you do get a phenominal amount of kit as standard (which would probably cost an extra £6k on a porker). Still, very nervous of how the residuals will cope, especially seeing as the car is almost £10k more than its predecessor.

The basic price for a Coupe is £58,995 which includes sat nav ,rear park ,bluetooth etc. The outgoing car is around £52k if I remember correctly. I think it fills a real gap for a practical 2 + 2 sports car / GT with luggage space. Compare it to a AM V8 Vantage at around £90k fully loaded ( an no paddle shift) and it looks like a bargain!!

My car is being built in early November but I cant have it until 1st March !! I think this car is going to be a real turning point for Jaguar. It might just suprise a few people!!

Can't understand why your compating the price of the XK8 with no options to an Aston martin V8 with every option. Let's turn it around - the XK8 fully loaded is £71950 and the Aston with no options is £79995. I think must people would rather have an Aston. As kryten22UK said people are going to be nervous of the Jag's residuals, definitely not with Aston V8 though However, saying that, they are not really comparable cars. A better comparison would be the XK8 versus the DB9, then the Jag does look good value. The V8 is a 2 seat Sports Car whereas the XK8 & DB9 are GT cars.

Just my 2p worth.

The basic price for the outgoing car is £49,995. The basic price for the new car is £58,995 but there is a no choice option which is about £700 i seem to remember.

I'm number 2 on my dealers list, and I cant see why he hasnt received any prices or given me timings yet!

Cant comment on the GT status versus Sports Car status as I havent driven the Jag yet but see your point. It will be interesting to compare DB9 versus XK - I already have a 9 and expect the XK to be softer - a more everyday car.

Price comparison is based on the fact that new XK includes Sat Nav , Phone, Leather , Park Sensors etc etc and to get the AMV8 with all those brings it up to £85k plus ( £90k may have been a tad high!)

With regards to residuals I cannot diagree in the short term but Jaguar have already stated reduce the number of cars made which should help residuals. At the end of the day if its a great car and people want it that will help keep second hand values higher.

It cant be any worse than my 6 series - lost £14k in 11 months!

There is a £995 CATS option that early cars have to spec taking base price to £59,995. This option can be deleted I think from post launch cars (after March 1st).

The current price for base XK is over £51k as stated on Jags Website and I think that excludes delivery but not sure!

That is the "S" special edition. If you look a little further down the page on the Jag site, you see the bog standard version is £49,995.

Hi thanks for reply.
I had a 6 series also and lost £13850 in 8 months - never again. Had a DB9 that I sold for the same price I paid for it after 3000 enjoyable miles - now that's good value. :-)

Do you not reckon there is a chance that the XK will follow the 6series depreciation? I reckon you'll lose 10k in the 1st yr.

Well it all depends on supply versus demand dosen't it. Aston Martin, Ferrari & Porsche always have a lengthy waiting list which massively minimises depreciation. THe new XK8 should do well I hope but depreciation will certainly be worse than the aforementioned manufactuers.
10K in 1st Year - well it depends on waiting list after first year. If there isn't one then consider the following; one would have to sell to garage or trader as difficult to sell cars privately for that kind of money - the trader will wanna make minimum £3-5K on it so would someone pay £63K to £65K for the car if they can get a brand new one personally specced for £70K???

Well if a new XK8 costs just under £60k, the convertible will cost £70k, so the new XKR will also be £70k+. Ouch.

As for residuals, another post made a very good point ref to this. It was stated that Jag don't have the option of making this car exclusive by keeping numbers limited. Jag will try and sell as many cars as they can, so I expect them to depreciate just as the current run out model has. Which is a great shame as they are relatively 'cheap' to run and fix.

I have just bought a brand new last edition XKR-S, with every single option on it with all the Jag 'R Performance' kit. (no I am not nuts) This thing was £65k in the showroom! Used car price guide has the car at £49k after just 6 months! Now that is a whopping hit. Just as well thats all I paid for mine!

The convertible starts at £65k I think. If your car is worth £49k after 6 months and you paid £49k for it then you have class leading depreciation. I expect the new XK to perform better than the 645Ci with regard to depreciation but thats not saying much! I have ordered a new XK because I think its going to be a great car - time will tell!
