Good evening.

I am in a bit of a ponder with tyres and I need to pull the trigger on a new set fairly soon. I am currently running Pirelli which are okay, nothing special but I hear allot of negative comments on the owners forum. Where on the other hand all I read about is Michelin Pilot Sports, but is there anything else out there anyone has had a good or bad experience with?

A few years ago I was running an M3 with Toyo tyres and they were just great, giving allot of grip and a little warning just before you run out of talent. Is or has anyone run Toyos on their F Type?

Thanks, I would really like to hear your feedback.

I absolutely and categorically know the answer but I won't tell you as I totally hate the expression pull the trigger . It's vulgar and highly inappropriate.

Im sorry about that "Cliffords", I was unaware such a phrase could offend anyone?

Not to worry though, Im sure Ill come to a decision without your absolute and categorically correct answer.

Thanks for letting me know though, I will bare that in mind before I use that phrase again!

Bizarrely I have changed the Pirellis on every performance car I have run except the two F Types . I put the Pilot Sports on two Astons and I found they transformed the car , I said so on an Aston Forum and a couple of fellow owners said they had done likewise and felt no difference???
Currently I am running Pilot Sports on the latest Porsche and I really rate them , I have hammered 10,000 miles out of them in normal road use and the car is only seven months old . Getting back to your question I think there is a lot of follow the leader where tyres are concerned so I am very interested as to where you end up in your quest for an alternative . I should think you would struggle on here to get an answer to your question but the tyres I would be considering are the Continental Premium . the Goodyear Eagle F1 , the Hankook and the Toyo . Yokohama I have always found to be made of a relatively soft grippy compound that can wear away surprisingly quickly . Keep us posted how you go because its a really interesting question you ask but ultimately I think you may just have to go it alone .

Just as your attitude to the OP is completely uncalled for . What is your experience with Tyres on an F Type ?

I recently changed a set of Pilot Sport 4Ss on my XFR to Conti Sport Contact 7 and I've found them great so far in all conditions. I really enjoyed the Michelins, they seemed to find grip everywhere but had suffered the typical issue of cracking sidewalls on all 4 tyres. The Continentals also have more of a rim protection flange than the Michelins which have a very square profile in comparison.

Good to know chaps. I’m looking at both of those for an imminent replacement for the Sport Maxx currently on mine.

Not the same thing I appreciate, but my much loved XK wears "Pilot Sport 4 S" all round since I bought it, the wear levels are good, and the grip levels are impressive in all weathers. The only down side is my rear tyres are 285/30/R20 and consequently strike devilish expensive!

I'd be curious as to how they wear in comparison but the Continentals were much cheaper.

The SC7’s are the new “go to” performance tyre and are deliberately under cutting Michy on price to hoover up the market

Same size as my rears, it was £700 for all 4 Continentals. IIRC the rears from Michelin were £250 vs £200 for the SC7!

Michelins are voodoo tyres. I put rears on mine a year ago and 10k later they’re on 5mm with great wet and dry grip and not too sensible driving.
