On the look out to buy an E type Jaguar.

After years of owning most of the classics and British sports cars I really would like to own an E Type, got very close to owning one just before lockdown but the deal fell through and put me off searching again until now, really got to me.
Problem I'm finding is that I'm based in Lancashire(Wigan-ish) area and most of the cars up for sale all seem to be a long way down south or at least a bloody good drive away.
I am hesitant to waste the effort based on usually a few nice pics of the car but nothing of substance to show its true condition.
So just wondering if there were any owners NW based who may be in the know and could advise me of anything about in our neck of the woods from private sellers, also to maybe pick a few brains over owning one too.
As expected most of the cars I fancy are in dealers hands so would like to buy private to save the mark up and also to buy from an enthusiast like myself.
With what I'd ideally like to spend I guess I'm looking at decent S2 FHC's, Nice S1 2+2's or very nice s2 2+2s, cars I've looked at range from 50 to 70k but there are a few around 40k that look superb, but too good to be true I guess or maybe not.
I am going to advertise one of my current cars to make a space in the garage for one. I've an absolutely as new condition Lotus Elise Cup and a very tidy TVR Chimaera 400, both owned long term by me.....a p/x with an enthusiast moving the other way would be the icing on the cake. Worth an ask here I thought as going through vague adverts is doing my head in;) Thanks Guys.
