My daily driver has the added luxury of TV.

The daftest thing is that it doesnt have dual screen.
So the TV can be on and you can hear the audio and when the car comes to a stop the visual appears which is all well and good.

But the front passenger is also subjected to this, so they cannot enjoy uninterrupted viewing…..go figure the thinking behind that one.

I am wondering if a software tweak could solve this ?

I believe Zippy that dual view was possibly standard on the very early Portfolios then for some reason non existent on the later Models . I am going back to my former days on Jaguar Forum before I was banned over Brexit but I think you should be able to check the veracity of what I am saying .

I see you can buy a head unit with dual view but
it probably involves all sorts if recoding n faffing about.

I wonder if it will play
a DVD

Yes they play DVDs too, and DiVX files encoded in the "Home Cinema" preset off a USB stick.

I wonder if they sacked off dualview because nobody used it, and it does reduce the effective resolution of the screen somewhat.

I've had a few cars with TV tuners and unless they have some sort of rear entertainment system I've never seen the point. Even if you're in traffic or waiting somewhere is anyone really so desperately stupid they need to run their engine to power their car to watch TV?
