2nd generation XF S (V6 Petrol) advice
Discussion
Watching with interest, as they’re also on my radar.
I need a bigger car / family car, as I’ve inherited another teenager and I’m familiar with (petrol) Jags. Last one (when married) was an XE S 380. Reliable, went like stink and handled extremely well. Think I just need a little more room, although another XE would certainly be doable, just…..

I had an XF 5.0 Portfolio V8 na (380bhp) for 2 1/2 years. Rare car only available to order in the UK as it was the standard USA market configuration. Loved it and probably would still have been in my possession but wife's arthritis meant she found it a problem getting in/out of. Did not have any issues while I had the car.

Evening all,
I quite fancy another Jag, and the 2nd gen XF S (petrol V6) has taken my fancy. Not sure I could bring myself to have a 4 pot Jag…
Anything I need to look out for when buying? It wouldn’t be a high mileage example.
InControl Pro (bigger centre screen without buttons down the sides) and digital driver display are a mustI quite fancy another Jag, and the 2nd gen XF S (petrol V6) has taken my fancy. Not sure I could bring myself to have a 4 pot Jag…

LED headlights and sunroof are nice to have, the former being much better than the HID lights, although they’re not fancy adaptive ones beyond auto high beam.
Adaptive cruise control is st, don’t bother looking for that.
Not aware of any big gotchas maintenance wise, but normal servicing will run to a few hundred quid a year.
Tyres and tax are expensive.
You’ll get around 24mpg on average.
I really enjoyed owning mine.

Thanks for all the replies.
I do think the non-upgraded infotainment system looks hugely dated, and actually rather cheap, so the upgraded one would be my preference.
From what I can tell, the drivetrain is fairly reliable. I had a first generation XF S (diesel), and other than the DPF doing a lot of whingeing (my commute became much shorter after I’d bought it), it ate tyres and brakes. Everything else was marvellous.

That’s nice for you, but not the car the OP is asking about. R.
