Jaguar XKR specialist needed!!
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm looking for some advice. A friend has a 2007 4.2 litre XKR and he doesn't know much about cars.
To cut a long story short.....a piece fell off the spark plug in cylinder 4 and a borescope has revealed damage to the cylinder walls, head and piston.
I am looking for an XKR specialist that could potentially rebuild this engine.
Who are the XKR specialists in the UK that forum members would recommend to undertake this kind of work.
......OR is this going to cost more than car is worth?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks guys

Firstly you wont need an XKR Specialist , simply someone preferably with some Jaguar experience . A replacement engine will be £2k maximum plus the labour to install , some will come with a warranty and personally should you go down this avenue I wouldn't even worry about notifying anyone about this change of engine . As soon as you do , you will inevitably be disadvantaged come exit time . Caveat Emptor as they say in the Trade .I'm looking for some advice. As far as a rebuild goes its a relatively easy unit to work on with parts being both plentiful and relatively cheap . Its the potential Labour Rates and Warranty or more likely lack of that would concern me . I think we need more details about the cars service history and mileage covered to understand its value and your location to recommend someone to do the job .
