I know it is sad but I took great pride in driving 280 miles over the weekend and coaxing 29.2 mpg out of my 2010 XK 5l.
Must be my age or fear of energy bills.

My 2006 XK would do 31 on a long run. So I changed it for a DB9, whose best so far is 21.5...

That's impressive, I get less than that out of my diesel XF when booting it.

As I've said on another thread, I've been really surprised by the fuel consumption on mine (MY22 F-Pace SVR. Steady run at 70 on the motorway for two hours saw an average of 34mpg and way above the late-20s I got in the Alfa QV.

Average consumption is a bit better than the QV, both late-teens....but the SVR can easily get WELL down into single figures(!)

(all OBC/app readings)

The most impressive instant mpg I've had was 4, in my XJ40 4.0 Sovereign. Just put it in second gear and press your foot into the Wilton smile

I'm now taking that as a direct challenge ;-)

Had a run down to Birmingham the other day in My new (to Me) 2014 XK5.0. Lovely gentle bimble down the motorway for the 100 or so miles, sitting around 75 (and 50) and managed 33.4mpg!

What’s the highest figure you have seen on your mileage indicator.
I have a 20006 XK and average around 26 mpg and lower 30s on a run
I have seen 50 mpg for a few seconds on the display. Not for long as I seem to remember having to then go uphill
This was before E10 etc and I have never seen it since. Seen 40s a few times as well.

My S-Type diesel would show about 80mpg when it was regenerating, but it's a false reading caused by the way it's calculated (unfortunately)

My 2006 XK 4.2 averages 29. My son's 2011 XKR 5.0 averages 16. Driving style may also be a factor!

I've never seen better than 25mpg on my 4.2 XKR, even when driving like a saint.

Somewhere on here there's a photo showing my 2010 XKR averaging 31MPG, it was mostly through a long 50MPH average speed camera controlled section of the M1. I speculated that must mean that the fuel pumps actually run slower at 50 than they do at standstill.
The newer gearboxes in the F Types can give much better economy.
If I get the XKR out of the garage and drive into town and back I'd be lucky to break 10MPG. It also easy to get below that when "playing".

Arriving in town in an X150 XKR must be close to heaven . What a fantastic machine and once again woefully undervalued . I have a friend who is looking around at a few and cant seem to make up his mind between that or a DB9 . Its the Jaguar all day long for me but this is the trouble with being English and of a certain age . Aston hold a position in your heart and psyche that defies rational explanation .

Do you know that after all these years I simply cant imagine you without her and especially in a Mercedes . I totally understand your position regarding your needs for you and the family but this will be a wrench for you . Mercedes are headquartered here in MK and owing to Staff Subsidy their Cars are everywhere and in all shapes and sizes . They are driven by People who work for Mercedes to People who sleep with someones daughter who works for Mercedes , its really quite incredible and the terms are such that I wonder why I bother to buy a vehicle using my own money . SVR is your spiritual home Niall .

Yes, but then I drove some.
I'd always lusted are a V8, a Vantage obviously. Then I read the article by Gavin Green on the development of the Virage and I was sold. That is what I wanted. So after I'd had the XJ6 for a decade I decided the time was right and I went to look at some Virages.
Look great.
Sound Great,
drive like a truck irked
But hell I really wanted a Volante Virage (or is a Virage Volante, can't remember)
But they're like hens teeth. I tracked down a 95 (they made 4 of them)
Looked really Great
LadyB8 looked fab behind the wheel
Bugger, still drives like a .... irked
Still I want a Vantage version and I've not driven one so I can still dream
If I win the Euromillions I'll get a V600.
Then I can drive around in the middle of my own personal earthquake and who cares if it drives like a truck.

I'll still keep the XKR

Having had both, I'd like the body and cabin of the DB9 but with the Jaguar engine, running gear and everything else. In other words, Jaguar reliability and costs with Aston looks.

Like you I had both and I enjoyed the DB9 , a complete bargain as a second hand buy but you have to do your
sums correctly and know what you are looking at . The last I looked Newport Pagnell were asking 30k for a repaint and my mate in the body shop tells me people are indeed bringing them in .
