XF X250 Battery change
Discussion
Hi
Its looking like replacement battery is needed fir my 2014 XF.
I know the correct item to get, I am wondering is it straight forward, is dealership calibration a myth ? Or, am I going to get a problem ?
Plus, should I consider replacing the Stop/Start battery too.
Thoughts appreciated please.
Regards

When changing the battery of a facelift XF make sure that you allow the car to fully power down before disconnecting the battery..
Also make sure the keys are nowhere near the car during that time!!
Remember to leave boot/tailgate open as well because opening it will at least partly wake the car, which could lead to not being able to lock the car until the security/immobiliser have been reset via SDD or some of the more powerful Autel OBD gizmo's.

On the facelifted XF's there's something about the central locking that means the car has to be completely disconnected for 15 minutes I think otherwise the central locking won't work again when the battery is reconnected.
I've had the battery off my pre-facelift 3 times and have ignored the advice about resetting the BMS every time because I'm too lazy and tight. It's made not the slightest bit of difference to anything and apparently recalibrates itself after a while regardless. I lost window settings and clock but kept all radio settings even after leaving it disconnected for 72 hours.
To reset the windows open them fully and hold the switch for 5 - 10 seconds then close fully and do the same. Then you're one touch open/close will work again (maybe).
