After three months on the forecourt I was surprised to still see my old SVR unsold . Its hard to envisage them making a Sale this side of Christmas so I am wondering are they selling ?

I would guess the market for this type of car (and wonderful it is too, I'd love one) is a wee bit smaller than 6 months ago. There will be a buyer, but it will either take longer or price will need to drop.

out of interest whats the price difference between the sale price and your trade in price? was any remedial or significant prep work required to get it retail ready?

I like to keep an eye on the SVR market, as a V6S owner I dream. Perhaps a coincidence, but just in the last week, 3 privately owned SVR's 2016-2017 have popped up on Autotrader, all around £57/58k. The 3 of them look absolutely lovely, but it's going to be a hard sell asking someone to part with that sort of cash, with no warranty or comeback. I've sold 20+ cars privately, only ever traded one car in, but not having much luck with the F-type I think primarily because people are not comfortable spending £25k+ on a private sale. All previous cars have been anywhere from £5k to £20k more recently.

Do you think folk are jumping ship before prices nose dive next year? I'm still hoping to sell my 2013 V6S this year and sit on the money for 6 to 12 months to pick up a bargain, so hope that's exactly what's going to happening.

The challenge with the F-Type and to be fair same goes for most other performance\sports cars is the webuyanycar prices are so out of touch, yet that's usually all dealers are willing to offer as a trade in to mitigate any risk on there behalf. For example, one of the cars advertised below at £58k, the webuanycar offer is just £46.5k. That would easily be a £65k car at a dealer!

I don't think your old car is badly priced given it's from a dealership and a 2019. But I think it would take a brave man to spend that sort of money knowing prices will drop in the next 12 months.

Absolutely no remedial work Rich , the Car as you can see is near mint and thats the way it left my hands . A paltry £3k Rich though its been reduced from their original asking price . Its also been moved around through a couple of Branches within the group .

Missing the fancy spoiler will (may) be a factor too. Really helps the SVR standout from the R.

Its amazed me how quickly the F type seems to have gone off trend , a now discontinued Model , Sales appear glacial to non existent though still comparatively big money being asked . I suspect if Owners are jumping ship its largely down to the general malaise within the Country rather than any panic over shrinking values , with these sort of Cars it very quickly becomes an enthusiasts marketplace . I agree that my old car is well priced , well specced and not that common with the London Tan which wont be to everyones taste of course . As regards Private Sales of such cars I think if you do your homework , any modern Jaguar is a comparatively safe purchase . Aluminium Construction is difficult to bodge and the engines are all reliable well proven units . The Supercharged 5.0 V8 is an astounding well proven unit .
As a matter of interest I have just left Silverstone Porsche where I originally parted with my SVR . I was having the Oil changed and two new P Zeros on the rear wheels . I notice two new 911s awaiting collection as well as a new Macan and Business appears steady with plenty of coming and going . I suppose that the difference when you sell a quality Product like Porsche with a hard core following of comparatively well heeled People . You will always have a marketplace because these sorts have more ability to weather any financial headwinds . It really saddens me when I think of all those local Jaguar Showrooms back in the Sixties and Seventies . Each major town had one and all the local Businessmen and Professional People were on first name terms with the Salesmen . They simply never went anywhere else . It seemed as late as Fords ownership of Jaguar that we could maybe nail those quality issues and restore Jaguar as a Premium Product but sadly we appear to have lost our way .
