2005 XJ8 fault codes - help needed
Discussion
Hi all,
I recently had the engine light come on on my 2005 4.2 Sovereign. I took it to my trusted mechanic, who read the following sets of codes:
First reading:
P0305 – Cylinder 5 misfire detected
P1313 – Misfire rate catalyst damage bank 1
P1316 – Misfire rate excess emissions
P1260 – Security input
Codes cleared, then second reading:
B2879 – Fuel tank jet pump fault
Codes cleared again, then third reading:
P0191 – Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit range/performance
Is anyone able to shed any light on the cause of the EML? It’s running very lumpy, mainly when Drive is engaged, with no brake or accelerator pressing. I also get “restricted performance” when I try to accelerate with any sort of urgency.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for reporting back. Makes sense with the misfire codes, it's odd how a fault can turn up bullst error messages.
In my experience if one has gone others won't be far behind, it's probably worth having one or two in the car with a small toolset because they're a 2 minute job to change.
