Morses Old Mk2
Discussion
I drove past the Lone Pine Garage at Warrington earlier and saw the familiar Jaguar Mk2 from the Morse television series parked up outside , Im assuming the owner has put it in to Michael for some fettling . A bit of research told me that some turnip had paid £100,000 for the car some time ago doubtless in the hope he was making an Investment . I say turnip because no proper Jaguar Enthusiast would contemplate parting with such a sum for any 240 Mk2 , Investors on the other hand ??? I wouldn't imagine its appreciated much if anything in value , its hard to see an old BBC Series meaning much to potential buyers in the decades to come . Its hardly James Bond .

It was a classy show, and easy to imagine it was from Aunty, but it was an ITV Production.
I never knew that . Well I came past again yesterday and its still sat out the front and in apparently good condition . Perhaps its being prepared for sale in anticipation of a hefty electric bill this winter Roy C said:
DVLA says the Morse car - 248 RPA - has been untaxed since September 2021.
The car was in a poor state after Morse, but it had an extensive restoration in 2005.
Apparently, John Thaw hated driving it.
I have driven a couple of Mk2 240 over the years and although a pleasant enough car you wouldn't have one over the 3.8 and certainly not at £100kThe car was in a poor state after Morse, but it had an extensive restoration in 2005.

Investors in Cars I have found to be a strange bunch especially when it comes to run of the mill cars rather than the usual exotica . With many years of a near zero interest rate I suppose some are looking for a safe haven for their money , many of us must marvel at current old Ford prices .
As I understand it, the production company hadn't thought about Morse's car when they were about to start filming. They got the 2.4 in a rush from a scrapyard. It received battering and patching during the years they made Morse, but no serious restoration. Sometime after Morse ended, I think it was restored by CMC in Bridgenorth, well known the Callum Mk2.
For me as a Mk2 enthusiast, the 2.4 Mk2 is the least desirable. The 2.4 Mk1 and 240 are both quicker cars. I'm sure Morse would have owned a 3.4 or 3.8.
