My F Type has started to lose washer fluid, I noticed it by the driver's side front wheel having topped it up a couple of times already.

Does anyone have a guide to go about fixing this please?

Take front wheel off and remove wheel liner and washer bottle is located here maybe just split in pipe if you need a replacement bottle try Synetiq breakers

I get this occasionally on mine & it correlates with topping the fluid up.

When I investigated it I found out there is a reservoir in the rear where you top it up, this pumps fluid to the front reservoir when it senses it is low. So I think the rear bottle is getting confused & a sensor is sending fluid to the front which in turn is already full & hence then leaking out.

No idea why you would have two reservoirs & all it’s complexity which is nuts to me……to get to the rear where I think my issue is, requires removing the bumper.

I’m living with it as it’s a sporadic thing.

I'm sorry for the late reply, thank you for your responses.

I took the wheel and arch liner off, can't see anything untoward and in fact the bottle here is almost full, despite it being above the puddle on the floor.

I filled the rear bottle to the brim and that must have sent too much to the front, odd set up but at least it appears to be ok, for now.

More on this...

Now the driver's side wiper is not spraying at all. I push the button to wash, the wipers come on, passenger side sprays twice, headlights get washed and wipers keep going for 3-4 passes. Push the button again and I get another two sprays from the passenger side and nothing on the driver's side.

I'm beginning to think I disturbed something when I took the liner off and had a look, I did notice two pumps, surely they don't have one for each side??

Just a quick one if you can drop pipe off non working side and check if any flow may be just a blocked jet ,also may be broken non return v/ v in pipe not allowing water through.best of luck.

So, I went over the tubes and found a small split in the one going to the driver's side jet. Convinced I'd solved the problem I replaced this (had to find something aftermarket because even jaguar have this part on back order) and re-filled the reservoir at the back. A few hours later there's another puddle next to the front wheel!

Not sure where to go next with it, maybe a specialist. In the meantime, does anyone know, is it gravity that takes the fluid from the rear reservoir to the front, or is it pumped?

It’s pumped

I believe its a blockage on the drivers side . I think you have eradicated any issue with the pump as the passenger side works ok . Snafu I think has it right

Hi I had this on my Ftype. My car leaked front drivers wheel arch when the car was parked with the front lower than the back on a slight hill. The washers were also very weak.

It turned out to be two problems.

Problem 1 was system was all gummed up. Apparently happens when mixing different brands of windscreen washer fluid. To fix I had have all pipes flushed out.

Problem 2 The leak on hill was caused by a anti syphon valve located on output of rear tank fouled open.
The car has two tanks one at front which has a over flow hole at top ( where leak came from) and a second tank at the rear. When on hill , font lower than rear with anti syphon failed the rear tank syphoned to front tank which then overflowed through hole at top. Problem 2 was probably caused by problem 1.

Syphon valve is a cheap item . I believe you have to take rear bumper off to access.

I hope that helps.

Thank you, that describes my problem pretty well.

Did you do it yourself? (The anti siphon valve)

" I believe you have to remove " clearly tells me that he hasn't . Flush those lines through before you lay our for a valve otherwise you may find yourself with money spent and the problem unresolved

I identified what I suspected the fault was and new it wasn’t pumps or controls. I am pretty ok mechanically but do no like removing body panels. To get to anti syphon valve you need to remove rear bumper.

If you are ok with removing bumper it will be an easy fix.

Finally got this sorted. There's a T piece under the windscreen scuttle that connects driver to passenger side wipers/jets. Obviously blocked, I replaced it with a much more basic looking one and hey presto, I have windscreen washers again. It's difficult to get to but you can lift the scuttle just enough to get access to it.

The leak from the front tank seems to have gone away for now so that's a job for another day. Ultimately it was a quote for £125 from a local independent, just to have a look, that lead me to have another go and I'm glad I did!
