Its been a few years since I visited Anglia Car Auctions at Kings Lynn and their Classic Auctions in particular frequently throw up some interesting vehicles
The XJR clearly wants the headlining attended to but what a colour . The STR on the other hand.......how many times over the years have I opened the door of these vehicles and been horrified by the interior , what were Jaguar thinking ?

I couldn’t agree more…

I sold my STR a while back and when I was looking around to see what I should ask for it I was amazed that someone when it was new spent the best part of £50,000 and asked for those seats in the spec.

I actually really like the interior - not a piece of walnut in sight and the tan adds some light into it. For me, it's certainly better than a German style all black tomb like interior. Given two identical STRs, one with walnut and one like this, I'd buy this one.

That's a cheap car too. Almost tempted, but haven't got the room for it and it's a step down from my XK. Which also has no wooden interior or black seats...

I'm not a fan of black interiors either my STR had Ivory leather and when I was looking for my XK it was high on my list to find one with a similar light colour...

Golan,

Very nice STR.

IN succession, I had two S Types. The first was the first edition 4.0L V8 SE, emerald green and ivory interior. Had this for three years. Then I had for 10 years a second edition 4.2 V8 SE, BRG and ivory, a much improved version. This was followed by a XF 5.0L n/a Studio, also BRG and ivory. I now have a LR Discovery Sport which is santorini black and ivory interior. Wife had issues getting in/out the XF so I needed something easier for her, unfortunately.

The message is I like dark exteriors, light interiors. I really do not like black or dark interiors, too cave like for me.

R.

Why thank you... I had it for almost 10 years.

Back to the will they sell, I saw this one for sale on Autotrader.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202203163...

I'd say a bit optomistic on price but you never know, plus I saw the same car for sale on Car & Classics and it ended on about £5,500 ish (Sorry I can't find the listing).

I got £6300 for mine but the prices of some cars are eye watering...

Just been watching some of this live on YouTube.

Cars not making reserve.

But have to say the auctioneers are doing a shocking poor job of describing each lot as it rolls us - no mention of the service history or mileage so you have people bidding online on the phone and in the room, each car is only getting a couple of minutes on the block, as a casual view just looks like a shoddy attempt .

I know that anyone planning to bid would have done their research long before the car arrives on the block but does not look like much effort going into the description ( I used to work in a BCA auction so I’m familiar with used car auctions).

Some odd results an average looking Alfa 2.0 spider made a whopping £6k looked like £2k tops to me but lots of clean looking stuff not making reserve . A rough looking Beige Austin ambassador with no mot make £1400 looked like a £300 scrapper!
