Toying with the idea of getting an XKR from around the 07 - 08 reg - done a lot of reading up, but can't find any article that mentions routine servicing costs, or any achilles heel faults that these cars are known for. I've had several V8's including Monaros, and currently own an MG ZT 260 V8. Any info would be much appreciated, cheers.

Absolutely adore mine.
57 plate with 83k now.

Servicing is very reasonable if you find a competent indy in your area.
The 4.2s are very reliable. I've had a few sensors go on mine which is expected with the age. Nothing costly.

I had an Alfa 159 before that was very reliable but cost me a fortune each year in servicing replacing bits like the whole suspension!

Fuel is a pain, averages 19mpg around town. Ive seen 29mpg on the motorway, being very good.
But, the great thing is absolutely nailing in in the jgate and driving like miss daisy has very little difference.

Go for it. You won't regret it.

I suppose the Achilles Heel with these would be the Battery . The X150 is very sensitive to Battery Condition and often the slightest decline will lead to a myriad of warning lights on the dash . Most get around this by fitting a CTEK to keep the Battery in tip top condition . The 4.2 engine is comparatively bulletproof and servicing amounts to little more than the usual consumables many of which are available as aftermarket items though the genuine Jaguar parts aren't that expensive . Tyres will be the most costly consumable so budget for £200 per corner . Wet carpet in the passenger footwell will inevitably mean a blocked drain , plenty online on how this is best remedied . Air Con Condensers can suffer failure , they are low at the front of the car and road salt in winter can play havoc with them over time . Supercharger Belts and Pulleys can be an issue on higher mileage examples , I havent done the job personally so I cant offer anything in the way of cost . Buy the best example you can afford and the more paperwork the better . Plenty of dogs out there and also plenty of good ones so dont be afraid to walk . Finally the X150 can be pretty colour sensitive so avoid silver which is surprisingly anonymous and you will be penalised come resale time . The X150 XKR is a great Jaguar and I think you will enjoy it .

Ah, yes.

Blocked AC drain: what has worked for me is to shut the vents and turn the fans on full blast. It pressurises the tube and blows the blocked duck bill open.

Battery: replace with an AGM battery. I had loads of issues with random warnings because it does short journeys and wasn't charging the battery properly. AGM fixed that.

Great cars ran 2007 xkr from 2014-20 change oil regular ,remember oils cheaper than engines, had the wet carpet in passenger footwell which is a sure sign of a blocked drain for AC water back fills and soaks blower motor various fixes on you tube but fiddly priced up job £ 500 to change a £5 part also pedestrian protection system can play up normally sensors ,the large full width sensor is not cheap ,but like previous posters be prepared to walk away ps i always use 4 tech oil cleaner before oil change about £ 15 but well worth the money ,so to sum up find a good one and they are brilliant.

Don't be afraid to look at standard 5 litre XKs from post 09 either. There's not a huge amount of difference in performance from a 4.2 supercharged, less to go wrong, better economy and the interior is a big step up in terms of quality and feel.

Agree with the others' points about things to look for. Mine has been utterly brilliant in the two years I've had it - the only big bill was for the electronic handbrake which seized up. You have to lower the subframe to get at it, bit of an expensive PITA. I've also had the pedestrian light for the bonnet flash up a few times, but only when it's been pissing it down.
