Discussing the F Type yesterday with a couple of Jaguar Enthusiast friends and talking about what makes a Jaguar a Jaguar . A fine car though the F Type is , I am beginning to think it lacks that sense of occasion you get from driving an XJ . I accept some will say that I compare Apples with Pears but I look down to that lump of plastic that passes for a centre console in a £120,000 SVR , I look in my rear view mirror at yet another Audi driving halfwit spoiling for a race and it all begins to feel pretty tiresome . Its times like these I begin to browse at the back catalogue and cars like the one above . I get sorely tempted . I wouldn't have thought I could find a fellow contributor to these Jaguar pages that would disagree with the fact that this XJR has aged well . Aston Martin currently have adopted the " Timeless " slogan to market their Used cars , I think it could equally apply to the car in the link above . Is there an Audi , BMW or Mercedes from the same period aimed at the same marketplace that looks any better ?

You'll find no argument from me. I have the RRS with the 4.2 variant engine. Fantastic things to drive, can lift up her skirts and hustle when she needs to. Only get 13mpg in the Rangey though, and £500+ VED but if you're contemplating this car, neither are a serious consideration are they?
