Noticing one or two swirls on the Paintwork , I have taken the plunge and contacted my local Ultimate Finish Agent in Buckinghamshire to hear his thoughts and organise a Booking . I freely put my hands up to using the Albanian at the top of the road occasionally and to be fair he uses Autoglym Products which I have always rated but you have to wonder . Its shall be interesting to hear what the Paint Refinisher is going to say , the car is pretty clean to most Bystanders but to a Professional probably not . Anyone any thoughts negative or otherwise ?

Not sure about the quality of body paint, but my black alloys (factory option - 2015 xf sportback) seem to have been coloured black with our daughters Crayola's. The black coating comes off so easily, the one occasion I gave in to using a drive in car wash, resulted in loads of the paint being removed around the rim. The slightest item that comes into contact seems to chip the pain, even parking in a field at an event, the grass managed to 'scuff' the paint.

Red, you're always going to get swirl marks after a while, even if you use a 2 bucket approach (rinse water and soap water) so don't beat yourself about using jonny foreigner to wash your car! And 100% contactless washing really doesn't get the car as clean as you'd expect.. unless its been ceramic coated and even then you need the top end products where its just not worth paying for it.. To rectify the paint, the detailer will have to wash, de tar, apply fall out and then clay bar the car even before he starts polishing, and that's a good few hours if done correctly.. You will have to instruct him on how much paint correction you need (100% i.e. no swirl marks takes a long time) Most detailers would be able to achieve an 80/90% correction with one or 2 passes of the orbital polisher. Go on Youtube and check out car detailers, some cars take 10 days for a 100% paint correction.. I'd budget a good day to get both the inside and the outside properly valeted, I paid £250 a couple of years back on my wife's now departed A6 Avant and the guy did a 2 stage paint correction (medium cut and fine polish) and steamed all the carpets etc. Looked like new, for about 3 months..

Im a bit disappointed in this bloke in the link I posted earlier . I had a reply saying he was happy to meet and assess my needs and asking where I was based . I replied at 9.00 am this morning and then nothing ? Perhaps he is just busy .

Incredibly still no reply from this Bloke , it never ceases to amaze me the People you find in Business with little regard for the Customer . Ive no desire to slate someone but how hard is it ?

Finally received a WhatsApp Message from this Bloke yesterday telling me he would be in Milton Keynes over the next couple of weeks or else I could bring the car to him . Whatever happened to a simple phone call to the customer and setting a date to see the car ? The WhatsApp message has taken me no further than I was the morning I first saw his advert and Im a f****ng week further down the road

He is most likely busy and has other customers who are his priority, and at the moment owes you nothing.

He has responded, just not jumping to attention as you seem to want.

I hate to think how you would react if he didn't do a professional enough job to meet your requirements smile

It would still be professional to respond to a sales lead though, even if only to say 'Sorry, booked for a month'.

After five days. I always replied to sales leads within 24 hours, usually same day. Why? Because I had the wit to think 'There's someone out there who is interested in my services and is expecting a reply and if I don't do it now they might spend their money elsewhere'.

I'm currently waiting for a call from a garage who said they'd ring me back in 30 seconds. That was half an hour ago. So I mark them as unreliable. If you say you're going to do something, do it. And don't make promises you can't keep.

What crap are you talking about jumping to attention ? Its perfectly normal for a Customer of any Business to expect a timely response and not through WhatsApp either . Imagine if I took the same attitude when it came to paying him , " give it a few days mate and see if the car stays shiny " he wouldn't have a Business . As for other customers being a priority , all customers and potential customers are a priority for any Business or at least they are for mine . Incidentally I was communicating by Email not WhatsApp .

Perhaps , In the end I swapped the V8 R for an SVR so it matters little now . How is the EV performing , I remember you had the I Pace .
