Viewing an F Type SVR

I was up at Guy Salmon Northampton to look at the above SVR . One of two on the forecourt , I had been thinking of a change of car and decided to take advantage of the chance to view both side by side . The black car above would have been the one to attract my interest purely on the basis that it lacked the fixed rear wing and instead utilised the standard retracting version .
The first thing I noticed was that the paintwork had a few blemishes and when opening the drivers door handle I found what I believe to be overspray within indicating some previous paintwork . Secondly the trim on the passengers door at the base of the windows was out of true and the rubber seal standing proud . Again its been messed with though doesnt appear to be lifting like some do . Sadly at an asking price of £80,000 in my view , these things have to be correct . The Green Car has apparently been sold so the Salesman informed me . Someone came to view the Black Car and instead bought the Green one . I wonder if he felt the same as I did .

Here is the Green SVR with a higher mileage and the Ceramic Brakes . I think its probably the better of the two .

If you were thinking of making an offer - a word of caution re. Sly Gammon and their group - make sure the offer is face to face.. otherwise they have a nasty habit of increasing the asking price whilst 'going away to speak to my manager'.... 'sorry sir - due to an increase in internet interest, head office have raised the list price'.
Lovely tactic.

Thanks Steamer but I am a bit underwhelmed by it all . I have real trouble going from a V8 R AWD to an SVR as its my belief instead of a new car ( albeit an older one ) I would simply be paying for a slightly higher tuned version of my old one . People may point out the Titanium exhaust and some other frippery but as far as I am aware the current V8 R develops the same output . Its impossible to use the power I already have without risking the inevitable driving ban . Guy Salmon were the last of my local Dealerships to relocate from the old style Garage facility to the current sterile Emporiums filled with Mothers and Toddlers and the Leasing fraternity . In the process they also lost a Polish chap who was a first class Parts Advisor , I remember him telling me that Management had circulated an Email urging all Employees to Vote to Remain in the EU as Brexit would negatively impact their Business and of course against his better judgement he had complied . This previous conversation came to mind when I heard he was now Parts Advisor at the local Kia Dealership , I wondered what the Korean view would have been Lovely tactic.
Well I went back up with a Paint Sprayer mate from Aston Martin Works on Wednesday to look at the Black SVR again and its his opinion that the car has had no remedial paintwork whatsoever . Are you sure I asked ? " 35 years working on Astons Paul , of course I am sure " was the reply . Barely 4000 miles on the clock I bought the car and yesterday evening drove her home . I have to tell you all I am wrong again when I suspected that in comparison to my old F Type V8 R the SVR wasnt different enough to feel like a new car . The first thing you notice and its almost immediate is the difference in the ride.
The SVR is much more composed and smooth especially at the rear , its almost akin to an X350 on air suspension it seems to just waft along . Interior wise I have lost the electric heated and cooled seats and the heated steering wheel . Poverty spec never felt so good

These have caught my eye again! I currently have an Exige which I love, but due to a dodgy hip, it can be a tad painful climbing in and out. I've been lucky enough to drive one when they first came out and while nosing the classifieds, they once again caught my attention. I love the look of the F-Type, the noise is epic and ticks all the boxes. Hmm, I will be giving this some serious thought....and Ultra Blue would be my choice too!!reddiesel said:
How much thought are you going to give it , is it the SVR thats caught your attention or the F type in general ?
I like the F Type in general, it's a seriously pretty car...I'd draw the line at chrome rose gold though regardless of how good looking the car wearing it is though.....but is very much the SVR that has my interest. All the reviews have rated it and somewhat been surprised that a version with a bit more power somehow seems to have a softer more compliant ride. I couldn't say if the SVR is worth the additional expense, but a bit more power, seems about the same amount of noise, but the additional styling etc seems to make it stack up in my head.I'd had a few cars on my short list and the SVR is the only one that has stayed there the whole time as it seems to be a good balance of the things that I like, noise, drama, ooompf when you want it, can use it on a long run and you don't have to boot it to get enjoyment from it and it seems really good value too. I have a daily driver so would be mainly for entertainment purposes.

Seems to me you have been prevaricating too long . The power as you know is almost unusable legally on British Roads and its always easy to submit to temptation . I find I often get home wondering if a NIP will drop onto the Doormat the following week . The suspension changes have been surprisingly effective in differentiating the SVR from the rest of the range , additional styling to the unwary I suspect is barely noticeable . Not being a particular fan of the rear wing I purposely searched for the smaller retractable V8 R version . Noise from the engine I have found can be amazingly subdued and my advice is to junk the P Zeros . I dont find the drive very entertaining , certainly not in the way of your Lotus so maybe something for you to explore further there ? Very comfortable on a long run and extremely well planted at speed even wildly illegal ones . Worth the premium over the V8R ? I suspect probably not but what real man considers such a thing ? I always imagine Columbus , Drake or Raleigh standing by the Quayside pondering about still undiscovered Lands. Imagine if they had ever asked themselves the question " is where I am going likely to be any better than what I am leaving " ? They would all be anonymous irrelevances like the rest of the risk averse turnips Britain seems to be breeding more of these days . Get it bought and move on to the next Automotive pleasure .I'd had a few cars on my short list and the SVR is the only one that has stayed there the whole time as it seems to be a good balance of the things that I like, noise, drama, ooompf when you want it, can use it on a long run and you don't have to boot it to get enjoyment from it and it seems really good value too.
