I would have thought that Gaydon may have snapped this up as an exhibit , the last time I looked they had Thatchers Rover Coupe on display and this would make an interesting addition . Five previous Owners apparently , anyone ever came across it ?

Its certainly done the rounds , I am wondering if it failed tor reach the price at Auction and this is the Owners last throw of the dice . I suspect its of little interest to most Jaguar Enthusiasts , fuel consumption must be pretty low ?

Acquired by this chap in March 2021 when he reckoned he was " lucky " to purchase her . He will I suspect have to be even " luckier " to sell her for what he paid .

Interesting curio but pointless to own as a car to drive and use.

Maybe export to SA would be a better bet.

Edit. Apparently it has already been shot up in SA, the guy's dreaming.

£3-4k, maybe.

Interestingly enough Jaguar appear to have also supplied armoured vehicles direct to the British Government , Here is Baroness Thatchers X350 which sold for relatively big money .

Cool piece of kit. I wonder what the ride quality is like on these armoured cars with runflat tyres, a couple of tons of armour and uprated springs etc

That brought back memories!
As per the vendor’s advert the car was one of a number converted by Jankel Armouring Ltd for an MOD contract from May 2001 to October 2002. The actual contract was for 10 vehicles, so where 7 came from is a mystery. Lost in time is the South Africa connection, because none of the vehicles were scheduled for SA.

The MOD was / is not the only purchasing authority for HSV (High Security Vehicles) vehicles, one of the others is mentioned in the Bonhams advert.
Mention of the Blair dynasty reminds me of the three cars produced for one particular order; one for the Mr Blair, one for a minister and the last for a previous Prime Minister.

Reference Krikkit’s question of how they drove; they drove extremely well and controlled their weight with composure. A standard X350 with full options sat at 1800kg and the modified vehicle at approximately 2600kg unladen. Gross weight was indeed protected at 3100kg, which was in fact a little over estimated.
It was fun!

Fascinating SJWB , there has been some great stuff on here over the last couple of days and across several Threads . Jamie with his Propellers and the other chap explaining Power Spikes . I came across Tony Blairs actual car in the link beneath and clearly a " sister " car to the one currently on sale via Autotrader . Jankel of course had a long association with Jaguar Cars via the Panther which if I remember right ran a Jaguar engine back in the Seventies
