First Warranty Claim On F Type V8R
Discussion
Towards the end of last year I had the EML light come on with no noticeable difference in the cars performance . A quick scan showed an indication for lean running which I put down to fuel or the oxygen sensor . I extinguished the light , changed the fuel and never saw the light again till last week . I decided to return the Car to Jaguar in Milton Keynes to get the cause confirmed and also deal with another issue with the rear quarter offside door trim coming apart from the Bodywork . Yesterday I had a phonecall confirming my suspicion with the Oxygen Sensor but also telling me that Jaguar have turned down my Warranty Claim for the lifting Trim . Apparently they are trying to argue its been previously broken and repaired . The Staff at the Dealership have told me that this isnt their opinion and they have come across the issue on similar F Types . The Phone call ended with the Service Manager telling me he would escalate it to the next level and was confident this matter would be rectified under the Warranty . He mentioned my Brand Loyalty which I thought a strange thing when you are talking about a Year old F Type with next to no mileage covered .

He may be thinking of future loyalty - ie if they fix this you'll buy another one.I remain certain that all modern cars are basically the same - namely 10% engineering, 20% black plastic and and 70% ludicrously complex electronics. So not really cars, but mobile computers that go wrong frequently and cost a fortune to fix.
I have just collected the car 20 minutes ago , they have replaced the window trim on both sides of the car under the warranty so an overall positive experience . I am tempted to polish and get rid now but walking away from the car this evening and looking back ??? I have to admit the V8 R Coupe in a good colour is still a lovely looking thing . Take my advice..........you should never look back .
Polishing the car yesterday and stunned to find that the passenger door rubber seal has been damaged presumably by some sharp edged instrument used to remove the door trim whilst at the Dealership . I drove it back up there and its going in again on Tuesday for rectification . I had a couple of JDC mates over and because of the way the seal is bedded , the split at first glance is near invisible to the eye .
