Is the Jaguar XE going to get any interesting engines again?
Discussion
Honestly I could never see the attraction no matter what the engine . I had a friend who bought one from a Jaguar Dealership and after some research found it had been owned by Thrifty Van Hire , the Log Book said JLR as the previous keeper .
My money would be in an X350 XJR rather than any XE junk no matter what engine it was fitted with . If you are paying the money then why deprive yourself of what proper Jaguar ownership is all about .

The Jaguar XE is a decent car and good competition for the 3 series and C Class but was never going to sell in numbers because the pre-facelift cars had low rent interiors that didnt suit the brand and positioning and facelift cars that sorted the interiors dont have the engines. It could have been all so different if it had the decent interior from the start and had been engineered to take the 3.0 Ingenium engine and plug in hybrid that they knew was coming.
There wont be any investment in the car now, nor the XF as they will, just like F and E Pace, and F-type be on the run out phase over the next couple of years before the first of the new "reimagined" electric Jaguars arrives on the new platform.

A friend of mine has run an XE 2.0d S as a company car for the last few years.
For: Comfy. Manual. Rear drive. Fun to drive. Pretty. 50+ mpg on a run.
Against: Idiots think it’s not a proper Jag. It needed a new steering rack at 20000 miles.
That’s it.
He has to change soon as corporate are insisting on a hybrid so he is going for a 330e.
He says he will miss his Jag.

You’ll have to excuse the pompous resident of the Jag section. He’s been banned from a few Jag forums now, and has taken up sanctuary here. Just humour him and say things like ‘the X350 is a great Jaguar’, and he’ll be your friend. If that’s what you want
I havent you know One day perhaps you will be right about something .cjb44 said:

Certainly , Ive drove several of them both diesel and petrol and I think they are far from the best available in that sector . Just like the X Type before it , the XE isnt a patch on a BMW 3 Series and the marketplace would seem to agree with me .Stick Legs said:

So that is a personal opinion, whilst they may not be to your taste I think you are a bit OTT with the "junk" comment, there is not a car that is all bad. The past tense of drive is driven by the way, unless of course, you are American.dibbers006 said:
I'm a bit bored of BMW and was looking for a change.
Nothing else captures my attention visually at the moment. BM are all a bit agressive. Alfa is a bit out of price range. Merc look saggy to me in this sector.
I like the Jag's presence, but I don't want to settle for a mediocre package.
But the 350 all seem to be 50k miles+.
Are they sliding into wallet busting territory at that mileage?
Surely the Alfa Giulia is similar price used to the XE? Nothing else captures my attention visually at the moment. BM are all a bit agressive. Alfa is a bit out of price range. Merc look saggy to me in this sector.

X350 recalls for balance:

See!
I can use google too!
XE is a fantastic car, much better ride comfort than anything in its class very decent MPG and a responsive front end. We bought a 2.0d AWD Portfolio with max spec as a station car (if that purpose exists anymore) and its great for daily driving - we will have it until it is no longer economically viable.
Sadly they aren't going to continue with them.
We've had about 30 cars in the past decade, include and XJ, an Ipace and three Range Rovers and it absolutely is a proper Jag. It was never going to be a sales success as the deals were 25%+ more than a German equivalent, but I have no idea why all of the hate.
