Was There Ever An XJ That Fell Out Of Favour Quicker
Discussion
I am genuinely interested to hear comments from fellow Jaguar Owners on this topic but I have been absolutely stunned just how quick the X351 seems to be disappearing from our Roads . A couple of years ago , it seemed that everywhere you looked there was the inevitable Diesel variant ploughing the Highways and Byways but now it seems you can literally go all day without coming across one . In fact a glimpse through the classifieds shows the earlier X350 Model often overtaking the X351 when it comes to used values . Will there ever be a Classic Marketplace for an X351 ?

The XJS is also the only car I've ever been propositioned in by a young lady

Having just googled X351, you mean the hideous barge that was designed by someone who'd never seen a Jaguar before - if indeed he didn't need a guide dog.
It may have had a facelift but it needed an arselift. Sorry X351 owners!
I felt the same way about the rear end though a bootlip spoiler improved things slightly . It was just too big and cumbersome for me , echoes of the Ford Scorpio .It may have had a facelift but it needed an arselift. Sorry X351 owners!

But in any case demand for sleek 4 door 3 box saloons was on it's knees before the X350 was launched, never mind the X351 because all the fashion victims and those aspiring to impress had taken to buying lumpen and aggressively overstyled 4x4s instead

Drive a X351 at 130 mph for a prolonged period of time and any dislikes about the looks pale away rather rapidly...
I honestly dont doubt that and the 575 is a wonderful thing but few buy an X351 as a performance car . Most were Diesel so I suppose it proved a welcome relief from the usual German fare . After Jaguar ended production they disappeared from the Dealerships at an astounding rate , they seemed to become " old hat " overnight .Great comments , I often wonder if these X351 are perhaps all parked up on a disused airbase somewhere but they certainly are very hard to find on a day to day basis on our motorways in the South East , I invite anyone to take a look .
X350 values I simply cant make any sense of . Initially it seemed the Trade were intent on following the Land Rover Defender route by advertising them as the " last of the classic Jaguars " in order to create some interest . When you consider it was a pretty poor selling car when new the Policy has failed miserably . I dont believe Japanese Imports have had any great effect on values as more often than not they are the same money as domestic cars . I am still awaiting the Buyer of one of these Japanese Cars rolling up on some Jaguar forum talking about his purchase . Sadly he seems in pretty short supply too . Clearly " big money " X350 aren't selling but reductions by Dealers still aren't forthcoming and stock remains unsold month after month .
Personally I would pay £20k for a nice X350 Portfolio as I view them as the successor to the Mk2 3.8 . I bought instead the F Type V8 R and as the old bones creak getting into the Driving Seat I wonder about the intelligence of that choice .

A thread about old fart Jaguar owners that can’t move on
Yebbut - (1) everybody will be an old fart one day, (2) old farts generally have more money than young farts, and (3) generally know more stuff...So in 20-30 years' time anyone who currently likes carbon fibre, shiny black plastic and wifi will also be an old fart and attract the jeers of da kidz

Personally the best looking XJ is the S3 followed by the X351, then X308.
The X350 just looks bulbous and awkward from every angle.
