As stated before I am currently loving the S type I recently bought.... however this morning on what was a very cold and frosty one I fired up the Jag to go to work and turned on the heating to clear the frost off the windscreen. Within a couple of minutes white smoke started flowing out of the front passenger side of the bonnet (on the corner just above the headlights). It was diesel smoke as the smell was incredibly strong but it also seemed to come through the air con vents and into the car. Within a minute my car was filled with this white thick smoke that stank of diesel. No way I was sitting in that so I ended up taking my X5 to work instead. Anyone know what this issue is? It does say on my dashboard that the DPF is full and I was planning on taking the car on a nice long motorway run this Friday when I'm off work to hopefully sort that out. Could the smoke be related to that? Or something else? I've tried to find answers online but nothing concrete.

It's quite terrifying isn't it. The first time I saw it I thought the car was on fire. But I'm reliably informed it's the catalytic heater firing up smile

Yeah it was just a bit. So it's completely normal then? Nothing to actually worry about?

Not for me it wasn't. The car continued to work perfectly afterwards. It only did it in very cold, damp weather though. The reason it stinks, according to my fomer Jag technican expert, is because the exhaust isn't catalysed.

The extra heater means the car interior can warm up before the engine gets up to temperature. A nice touch.
