F Type 450 Reims Edition
Discussion
So I found out today that through work I can get the JLR privilege discount of 20%.
One of the options is the Reims edition which I think is a slightly tenuous heritage edition with a fair few extras chucked in. Rather helps that the blue is stunning.
List price is £71510 but through discounts can be had for £57704 which is way cheaper than a used one and better Apr at 4.5% especially in the current market of bonkers used car prices.
Does anyone have any knowledge in these? Only 150 made for the UK but I'm not paying any attention to it being a "rare" car as I don't think it is at all.
Guaranteed future value on a nearly new one is £32k in 3 years time, which I'd hope may be the absolute worst and it has a bit of equity in it at the end.
All thoughts / advice welcome!

You'd lose £25,704 over three years, plus interest at 4.5%pa. You can work out the cost pcm. If you're happy with that, go for it.fatboy b said:
The P450 is a strange addition to the range IMO. All of the tax, and none of the laughter, in comparison.
I hadn't checked the tax other than the first year, how much is it?450bhp from the rear wheels is more than enough for me, as much as 500+ would be good the current prices of used cars make it a more difficult call than maybe two years ago.

I can't imagine this being the model of choice for future buyers in the used market. The F-Type R will appeal to some. The V8S convertible will appeal to some. The V6S in both coupe and convertible, both auto and manual, will appeal to those who want good thrashability and a great soundtrack. The base model V6 will appeal to those entering the bottom of the market. The I4 turbo version is rubbish but will appeal to people who want to run one without paying for one. The P450 is kinda there with V8S/F-Type R running costs but in old-fart spec.
Having a bit less power but the ability to ring out a V8 might appeal to some, but the P450 seems aimed at people with little enthusiasm for the essence of sports cars. It's for someone who wants the quietness of an XJ but specifically wants that experience with a firm ride and impractical body style and no space.
If it's no apparent already, I simply don't "get" the P450.

Halfway between a 4-pot and the full-fat because they don’t have anymore engines. Harry's Garage does a review of the P450 that really shows its strengths.
There's a massive jump in price from the 450 to the R, but not much difference currently between a used R (old shape) and a new P450... so the trade off is a warranty backed new car with updated infotainment etc, vs a used one with more power and noise.
If I was looking for a used car, I would want a v6 S myself, but with them sitting at 40k+ for a decent 2016 vs 57k for a brand new v8, it's a no brainer with access to the Privilege scheme.
Full fat R or 575 is just so usable and lairy i'm not sure when I would take it past even 20% of it's capabilities. We're talking about 450bhp as if it is something to be dismissed and it has an active switchable exhaust, sounds loud enough still on the videos I have watched.

The new front end is much better in person. I thought it was flat and awkward in pictures but up close it's nowhere near as bad.
I still prefer pre-facelift, but not at current boom prices!
I had a new R courtesy. Not a fan of the Audi look front end. I still prefer pre-facelift, but not at current boom prices!
My R is currently listed about £5k more than I got if for from a main dealer. Madness.

Yeah the current market is a real pain if you’re buying, I was sure I’d have something by now, but it really doesn’t look very likely at present, any car salesmen here prepared to hazard a guess at prices over the next 6 months?Pursyluv said:

I know they have traditionally depreciated hard but maybe not so much if the shortage continues and then jag switch to electric only?

Honestly, I'd be more then content with the 2.0 turbo... the F-Type, like most Jaguar products do mature very well indeed. The new one looks so much nicer in the flesh.
I appreciate aesthetics is a subjective topic but you must be looking at a different car from me . Hard to believe what they were thinking when they updated the car , the whole bonnet when viewed across from side to side has the appearance of a tea tray and its the narrowness of the headlights which has caused this problem rendering the front of the car almost featureless . In my humble opinion the second version with the updated front is the one to go for and the V8 R the only model worth considering . 2.0 turbo wtfGassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
