Just put a deposit down for a new SVR to replace our (unreliable) Discovery 5. Build time is……lengthy, but we all know that’s the case at the moment.

It was mainly the endless faults on the Disco that made me start looking for a replacement but back in March it was deep in negative equity so I canned the idea. Five months later and the silly used prices have meant I’m now taking some money out of it, so it’s a no-brainer to take advantage of it and get something ordered.

So, what have I done? Something bad, or something good?!

You done good! Very happy with mine, had it a couple of months and can't get the grin off my face biggrin Performance is staggering for something this size but it's also a refined, quiet cruiser when you want it to be. You wont be disappointed.

I’m currently using a Velar P400 whilst my RRS is in at the dealer. It is stupidly fast. The SVR F Pace must be hysterical.

Nice to hear! smile I had an unaccompanied test drive and spent the whole time giggling - averaged 11mpg for the hour I had it!

I’ve sold my TVR so it’s going to be our only car and needs to fill the performance car slot and the family car needs. My wife prefers a high up car and she wasn’t impressed with the SVR as it sat a bit low. And doesn’t have arm rests. Anyway, she’ll get what she’s given! biggrin

Its 3.8 seconds to 60 and, frankly, stupid. I thought my Chimaera 500 was quick but the SVR would leave it standing. Loved it! Considered the RRS SVR but half the kit was missing and it’s 0.5 seconds slower. And the image is a bit…..er…..you know…..

Sorry for confusion ny RRS is a lowly diesel. The P400 Velar is the straight six 3.0 Turbo with 400 bop. It is fast as….the SVR must be Fast as fk.

biggrin No worries - I assumed you’d got one of the normal RRS, and they’re certainly not lowly! My Dad has one of the new D300s and they’re a lovely thing, especially when configured tastefully. I had the P400 RRS as a courtesy, but that’s the 2.0 plug-in hybrid. Still pretty rapid!

Lovely! That’s the colour I drove. I’ve ordered red but may change it to blue. Would’ve loved the yellow or BRG but at £5k there’s no chance! You like it?

I had an older Ultra Blue one before this and it did seem to attract a lot of attention, not always in a good way. I think the Eiger Grey looks classy and is a little more under the radar which I prefer.

Interesting. Didn’t think the blue was so attention grabbing? Can’t say I fancy being baited by Golf Rs and the like - I assume that’s the kind of negative attention you mean?

I went the other way, our Eiger Grey one was nicked last year and was replaced by one in Velocity Blue and in a moment of madness I ticked the matt finish option..... Whereas the grey one went under the radar the blue attracts every loon out there and next time I will choose something less showy. Like orange, or a happy pink.

Apart from that, it's fabulous and whilst the mpg around town is challenging we averaged 28mpg on a trip upto Scotland and back which is pretty impressive.

So another negative for the blue….

I don’t mind attention, I had a yellow TVR, but in the TVR it was all positive attention and never really had people trying to race.

Is the blue that bad for it? It’ll mainly be my wife who drives it so I don’t know any her getting harassed. Red definitely better then? Maybe with the SVR badges removed?

I've had a couple of TVRs, including one in Rosso Pearl and part exchanged an Ftype SVR for this Fpace but it is a different kind of reaction. With the other cars occasionally you would have some bellend trying to race but with this one its more passive aggressiveness but it is really consistent.

Possibly it is more due to the matt finish but I have never had a vehicle that seems to wind a certain type of driver (generally small angry men in black Audis for some reason) up so much.

Sorry to complicate your colour choices....

biggrin I don’t mind winding Audi drivers up! I actually like the white pearlescent they now offer, but it would look odd with the Oyster seats. Choices choices!

Anyway, I’ve heard on the FPace forum that they’re cancelling order now due to parts. Hopefully it won’t affect the top end models where there’s more money to be made - who knows, it may even speed up the build!

Well, after a four month wait (pretty good these days!), I took delivery of my SVR early December. Went for the Ultra Blue in the end and you’re not wrong about the attention!

It attracts a lot of attention and I’ve never experienced so many cars glued to my arse - it’s quite something!

Anyway, that aside, what a car! Gave it a few hundred miles break-in before opening the taps but the way it picks up speed is hugely impressive. More importantly my wife much prefers it to our old Disco 5, which was the main concern, but she says it’s more comfortable, smoother to drive and - her words - it goes where you want it to. She’s averaging about 20mpg in Comfort, which is better than the Disco, and I’m averaging about 14mpg in Dynamic. Happy with that.

Just wish I’d specced the Meridian Surround as the basic Meridian is awful. Means I just have to listen to the engine instead! The Ivory all leather interior is stunning but I still worry the kids will ruin it.

A lovely machine , good luck with that . There cant be much in the way of comparison with a Discovery can there ? You must feel like you have died and gone to heaven .

Well, yes and no. I sold my TVR and decided to go to a one car household but was massively missing a performance car. I decided to get something that would do it all and this was simply the best option that slotted into in my budget. My wife hates change and absolutely loves Discoveries so it was a hard sell!

The F-Pace has a lot of JLR familiarities so it was an easy enough transition for my wife but it’s the way it feels like my old TVR has been bred with a modern Discovery that I love. It really is a perfect combination of the two and I don’t miss either of my old cars. The fact that it’s a civilised cruiser in Comfort mode and then a complete nutter in Dynamic mode means it suits both our needs. Absolutely love it so far.

Great , I sat in one for the first time recently at a Jaguar Dealership and the cabin felt a lovely place to be . I cant quite work out why I prefer it to the Range Rover SVR , for some reason there seems to be fewer of them around and shape to me looks much better
