Stone Chips On The F Type V8 R
Discussion
I finally took the plunge yesterday and visited Michael up at the Lone Pine Garage . My car is barely a year old but sadly has one or two stone chips low down on the front panel , nothing highly visible but when I give her a polish they always niggle me . The problem as always is finding the best way to address them , most People ignore them and some even attempt to remedy them with one of those Mobile Hamshankers and often end up with a bigger mess than when they started .
I have been admiring these Peoples work for years so have arranged a Booking in August to have the whole bumper removed from the car stripped bare and repainted in its original Caldera Red . In addition because of the Companies close association with Aston down at Newport Pagnell , I am having a clear 3M Film applied by the same Bloke in order to try and limit any future damage .
Whilst up there I was given a look inside the workshop and at the Astons currently being restored , absolutely sensational .

Good luck getting the red paint to match if it's not blended into the wings and bonnet.I have been admiring these Peoples work for years so have arranged a Booking in August to have the whole bumper removed from the car stripped bare and repainted in its original Caldera Red . Any red car I've ever seen with painted areas looks completely different especially under street lighting.

What sort of idiot commissions a job where the paint isnt blended in to the rest of the car , have you seen the quality of these Peoples work ?Any red car I've ever seen with painted areas looks completely different especially under street lighting.
I think maybe you confuse them with Chipsaway ?

In my case I took the car back and they resprayed the whole car, only they managed to leave a window open and turned the light grey carpets pink I was very glad it wasn't mine, it was a company lease car.

I've not tried the people you mention, but I've had the experience of having a red car repainted and it looking perfect in day light, but under sodium street lights the newly painted areas were a totally different colour. Doesn't matter how carefully blended in things are, if the paint colour doesn't match under different types of lighting then the result will look a total mess.

I have repainted many cars over the years chap from RS Fords to X350s and some even in red , I have also worked in the Trade owning a share in a Garage for some years so although I appreciate what you say I dont with these People anticipate any problem . This said if the job isnt right then I shall happily take the abuse and ridicule In my case I took the car back and they resprayed the whole car, only they managed to leave a window open and turned the light grey carpets pink I was very glad it wasn't mine, it was a company lease car.

I am not sold on PPF. I had it on my evora and after a year it starts to peel in areas and where stones to pepper it it starts to look quite tatty. a respray can be cheaper than PPF application so I am not sure i would use it again.
Perhaps the PPF wasn't the best quality?Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
