My mum has a Panther J72, which has a Jag 4.2 straight 6 in it, presumably very early 70s era as that's when the cars were built.

What sort of fuel pump would these engines normally have had? As it appears to have one of those generic little 12v low pressure pumps (little gold cube) and they're typically only rated up to roughly a 2 litre engine...

Just after some pointers really, old Jag carbed sixes are not my area of expertise!

Looks likely to be an SU AZX1308 to have been on the Jag XJ6 etc. of the era with carbs, just in case anyone else stumbles across this post.

I make you correct on that , I dont know if its playing up and you are contemplating a replacement , being SU many People say its more a question of when rather than if . Service Kits were available for these and still are as far as I am aware .
