I've taken early retirement from the NHS and always promised myself a classic car. My original plan was a Rover P5B coupe and to be honest this is still top of the list.

A contact has sent me details of a Jag 420G that's coming up for sale. I know it's huge and a totally different beast to the P5B.

It's had a gearbox rebuild as well as new rear brakes, a recent retrim and the wood has been restored. I'm going to be travelling about 200 miles to view it next week - anything other than rust I need to look out for?

The first thing to check is your Garage size because this was a real issue during the Models lifetime .

Garage size isn't a problem - it's going in secure dry storage with a load of vintage buses and lorries. There's also a rather tatty 420G awaiting restoration - it's not moved for many years.
