Firstly would those that are sensitive about this topic please refrain from commenting.

Thus far I’ve test driven three cars, all of which sounded nice with no discernible difference in volume/tone, however one of them didn’t crackle/pop once during a twenty minute test drive.
Other than the software update discussed at length in a previous thread, are there any other factors which may negate them, I know the Speed 6 in the Tam needed to get warm before it did it’s thing
TIA

I didn’t engage it on any of them, too wet/lack of bottle!

Exhaust valves open? Should give a nice crackle whilst stationary.
Alternatively, Dynamic mode with paddles operating, downshift and ever so lightly touch the accelerator. That should do it, even more so downhill, and it will be like a cacophony of machine guns!

Depends on the year of car. My MY 2020 does crackle. The 1 month old one I had recently is very very subdued.

As I've thought about it, for this test drive the lady from the garage drove it from start up, it was only when we swapped that I activated the exhaust, after that it was a steady (very wet) flat type of run, so probably just a number of factors affecting the sound, when we got back to the showroom, the Sales Manager assured me it hadn't had the ECU update, but I was smelling a bit of BS at this point.

Anyway, still looking, just in case, Coupe with pan roof or Convertible V8R in Firesand would fit the bill nicely thumbup

Mine only gets raucous using the flappy paddles which I have arranged to only operate in Sport mode which suits my needs

I have a 2021 car that has actually become noisier of its own volition as it’s passed the 2.5k miles mark.

Has also started to crackle. This is independent of any fiddling around with the paddles in dynamic mode.

Early S cars sound great
R’s only made a real noise up to 18/68 and then they had to meet tighter UlEZ. But and SVR or 17/18plate car for most noise

My Jag Project 7 only really bangs and pops when the exhausts button is pressed and i drive the car with the paddles. Rest of the the time it’s quite normal.

That’s with a special exhaust as well.

You don’t need race mode for the noise.
