Door doesn't latch when cold (XKR)
Discussion
When the car is frozen the drivers door doesn't latch properly when I pull it shut behind me for some reason, it appears tobe shut and the sensors think it is, but the slightest touch opens it without using the handle at all. It eventually does latch properly but any ideas what is causing i, what can be done?
My 2010 conv does exactly the same! Takes 5-10 minutes on a frozen morning for it to free off so I can shut the door!
Unfortunately that link above is for something completely different.
Do you use the fob to unlock the door, or just allow the proximity sensing to unlock for you? I think last year that it didn't seem to happen if I just allowed the car to unlock itself via proximity, and that it was only if I used the fob to unlock the door it was a problem. But not sure if I proved that definitively.
Thankfully this year I've not had the chance to double check as I've been WFH and haven't had a reason to use the car in sub zero temps.
I also have the problem that the demist fans or flap won't allow air up onto the windscreen until I've been in the car and actually moving for about 5 minutes. Makes clearing the inside of he screen a bit of along drawn out challenge on a freezing morning!

Mine defults to that on a cold start. Can you select 'windscreen' from the Climate menu? I have a choice of windscreen, face or feet (or any combo of those).Simpo Two said:

(Phnaar, phnaar ). But I've not found on any of the usual forums where someone has had the same issue AND sorted it out. .

Yep, I've done a bit of googling and researching on it last year to no great avail. I tried cycling through all the various fan settings, directions etc.. but none of these seem to 'release' the windscreen demist flap so air actually goes up the screen. I've been sat in the car for 20 minutes a couple of times trying every option, until I've given up, driven off and then within a half mile the flap opens and the rest of the screen clears in seconds.

Doesn't the heated front screen clear things?I suspect it's just a sticky flap mainly. (Phnaar, phnaar ). But I've not found on any of the usual forums where someone has had the same issue AND sorted it out. .
Obviously it won't clear the stuck flap, but the few times my XKR has been allowed to get cold the heated windscreen has cleared things faster than anything else I've know apart from my X300 with a block heater

Weirdly I have had the same problem, press the fast clear button which turns on the heated front and rear screen and in theory starts the blowers on full , doesn't. I get the heated screens but the blowers stay off, I don't know if it has to reach a certain temperature first. It has been better recently but still not immediate air to the front screen

And to answer your other question, just let the proximity sensor do it.Unfortunately that link above is for something completely different.
