Rather than make more threads I figured I'd condense this-

1. I'm aware the diesel takes a good bit longer to get up to temperature than any of the petrol cars but what's the limit and what would signify a thermostat issue?

On the way to work today the car (XJ 2.7) was a good 11/12 miles and 20 minutes of driving before the coolant got to temperature. This was about 2/3's NSL and the rest through town. It had already been running for about 10 minutes on the drive defrosting as well. However, once it got up to temperature it stayed there for the rest of the journey.

I've had a dodgy thermostat in a BMW 320d in the past and it never managed to even reach near the operating temperature on the same journey.

Is there a main thermostat and and EGR thermostat? If so, wondering if it might point to one or the other as I'd be surprised if that was normal, even if it was 0 degrees this morning. As it was still warming up, I could have also sworn at one point the gauge went down again slightly before rising again. Not 100% certain though.

2. There's an intermittent issue with a 'right rear indicator failure' warning but this seems to disappear as quickly as it begins at times. Would suggest to me an issue that isn't just a dodgy bulb. By chance I did notice part of the left rear tail light seems to be out but there was no warning message for this and the reverse lights were on.

3. An amber 'Air suspension fault' occasionally appears and has done so for the past couple of years in the time my dad had the car. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this and I haven't noticed any actual issues with the suspension. Thinking the compressor is possibly having to count for too long before it's reaching its required pressure? Sure I've read something along those lines before.

However, for 2&3, could a slightly iffy battery throw up such issues? My dad hardly ever drove any distance (I'm talking 1300 miles in the last 2 years) and it would mostly get very short journeys when it was used.
